It's 5:30 am here in Massachusetts. It's -11 degrees. -11 friggin degrees. My 9 year old Hastings, set on level two, (out of five), in my cellar, held my three bedroom ranch at 60 degrees overnight. That's pretty good if you ask me! Now that I'm up, that baby's going to be on four for a little while!

A balmy 5 degrees just outside Philly this morning. Santa Fe has the basement office at 71, while MVAE has family room at about 73, but it's got a bunch of windows and skylights. Heat pump came on but very little aux heat. Not a bad showing!

-13 here this morning. That's close to as cold as we've ever seen in this place. Went to bed with the P43 set at heat setting 2 with the room at 70 degrees. Woke up to find the room at 65 degrees, which is the oil burner's set point. Bumped the heat setting up to 3 and 30 mins later the room was 69 degrees.

-21* when I got up this morning. The coldest I've seen since moving here. Have had plenty of -18's in 2014 & 2015. Had to bump up the feed rate on my stoves also this morning. Oh look, it is 74* in the office, time to lower the feed rate some more :D

My stove was running hotter than it ever has last night. I was on heat level 4.5 with Blazers and Olympus in the hopper. Thermometer on the side of the stove was reading 500. Every time I walked by it I would break out in a sweat.

I actually turned down the pellet stove abit and fired up the baseboard heat for the first time this year. Was afraid the thermguard zone protectors wouldn't be enough.

Maybe this will be the last cold snap. Looking at the weather, next Saturday is showing in the 50's, which is hard to believe I know.

We might get a warm day or two, but it aint over yet! Still two tons (out of four) in my cellar to burn. I've never had more than 1/2 ton left over, one year I was down to five bags!

How often and for how long do you have the Thermguard set for? I used to be nervous too, but I go 3x per day at 8 minutes a shot and it is fine. Course the only reason I have it is because I have pipes that run thru the garage. Otherwise, I think everything would be fine without since my basement is now heated and I've put in new insulation in all but one wall (and that is just above the basement stove, so should be warm enough anyway). If you have poor insulation, you might want to set it for 4-6 times per day.

Did you guys buy your thermguards direct from Bear Mountain? The hot water baseboard pipes for the master bedroom run through the garage and sometimes they freeze in the winter, then it's a big (huge) pain to get them thawed. Would like to get one of those gadgets to circulate the water at regular intervals so we don't have to worry about it.
