A little load from a wood fairy.

I saw one of the guys who gives me wood the other day. He said he had some small jobs line up. Guess he did them today. Came home to some Red and White Oak and a few pieces of Cherry. Every little bit counts.

 

Nice manageable sized load.

 

That's much better than the tooth fairy.

It's all split. Quick sweat-less work on a windy 20 degree day. Turned out to be a little more than half cherry. I'll see if I can barter it for beer from my friend who has a brewery/bbq place. Got the oak on pallets in single layers for now to try to get it the most sun as possible. My pulp hooks were useless on the frozen red oak, they wouldn't stick at all, but worked fine on the white oak and cherry. It's weird how that is.

 

Now that is nice.
Sometimes, with a small load, I will estimate how long it will keep me warm.

What say you? 5 days of heat or so?

 

Maybe a little less than 5 days of oak because the cherry getting converted to smoke wood and getting traded for beer. Its an easy deal. Splitting it was the first time I touched it. Now I'll drive over to the brewery, get their van, load it and bring it back and then drink their beer and get credits for a few growler fills. Less than an hour of work including driving their truck.

 

And beer tasting units! BTU'S!!!!!

 

Now that's capitalism at its finest!
