I am amazed at what little it takes for some to be considered professionals.

I recently purchased a used stove and all venting from someone and just finally removed the venting last night. First off, BRRRR. I waited till it was only 5 degrees to do this why???
Anyways, he bought the stove new in 2008 and had it professionally installed. I didnt ask for any names but take a look at the pics.

The appliance adapter and the elbow are black vs grey but they are the same brand. And considering the dog and 3 cats i cleaned out from the back of the stove i doubt it was ever even moved let alone cleaned.

You got a point on the vent & accumulated hair. What kind of stove did you fetch?

I wasnt even going too mention this but may as well... the screws for the thimble and the vent bracket were installed into vinyl siding only.

You got a point besides using longer screws or go to reinforcing the whole backplate which would have been time consuming .

Technically, the correct way is to cut the square out of the siding so the thimble sits against the sheathing and trim it with j channel just as you would a window.

That was an absolutely savage way to put that vent together. Total disregard for the vents feelings.

And I was upset about having to use the foil tape on the joints and factory crimp areas.

Wow, that was a real hack job.

Exactly what I was referring too.

Maybe "Ron" was over to do this guys stove install.
Similar work quality for sure. :picard:

    Great buy too BTW

Total disregard for anything that is even remotely "Professional"

This install could Not have been inspected, no way shape or form, nada, zip zilch.

This pipe mess could not have been caused by the installer, it had to be the result of a serious infestation of PIPE RODENTS

    Nasty little devils.
Their telltale markings are the bent and torn pipe edges.
Lucky they did not get into the stove. :D

So far i am pretty happy with it other than the issue of not being able to adjust the convection blower.
It does need a new control board cover as the power and heat buttons have cracked thru but the look to be only glued on or have sticky tape along the edges.. only $50 for a piece of plastic :-/

Hard to believe the owner wouldn't think there was something wrong with the install.
