    Take that maple and split it lengthwise to see if it is spalted. Sure looks like it.

    Yeah it seems like its got some great spalting. Might save a little section to plank.

    I have seen some spalting that the wood itself is soft, spongy, and starting to rot. Kinda useless for crafts at that point.

    That stuff is something else though!

    I didn't know there was any spalting that wasn't the fine black line type:)
