32" bar came in for my 460! Probably won't use it much but excited to have it. Will be taking a big oak out and will need it for that tree, and I have a few very old giant silver maples on my property that I want to be prepared for if they come down. Switched it to a 7 pin rim for the bigger bar. Excited to cut something with this western sized bar.
Dont know my chains all that well, same chain I run on all my saws. Stihl yellow link chains, I think its a full comp. Is that right?
The bar was $69 from local dealer, I bought it from the dealer I like to go to in my hometown. They are now a HUGE hardware store I believe one of the biggest in the country, but still a family owned and run business. I did check around because they didn't have it in stock, but neither did other dealers and other dealers were priced $80-90. Sometimes the hardware I go to is more expensive but they give a lot back to the community and always help people in need. So even if it costs me a little more I try to shop there.
$69 sounds like a pretty good deal. I'd like to pick up a 36" ES light and a couple chains but I'm afraid to ask my dealer how much.
Nice bar Swags. I "had" a 32" for my 460. Got rid of it in favor of a 28" E'S (Thanks Devin86!) I control the size of all my wood (log loads), but the occasional friend or family member has a job that needs done. So I still need something fairly big. My buddy runs a 36" on 460 (Thanks again Devin86!) I sold him (full skip). It still holds its own. Oiling is likely minimal, but bar isn't showing any signs of heat or distress. Congrats bro. Wrong Avenue to post it here, but need to get gears turning. What size bars are we gonna run on the 70cc class at the GTG? 28" or 25"? That way I can start to get a count on what size Cants and how many?
I say run what ya' brung but I know my 441 will most likely be wearing the 28" ES Light. I think 25" of wood should be plenty big for most of what members will bring, Sean has the 460/32"/20", If Certified makes it, his 460 has a 28" ES Light and a 20" ES, Firecracker has a 25" on his 441. So 24-25" should be a good block of cants for the 70 cc guys. Question is, will anybody be toting saws larger than 70cc, if so, how many and is it worth having BIG wood on hand? If the AS and SawHawgz boys get wind of this, you very well may have some big boy toys show up. Whether or not I show up with a 90cc machine will be dependent on Stihl and the MS661 release date, at this point, it ain't lookin' good.....
I had a 92cc Monster. Traded for a 441 (not really a trade, but more less). I don't see why we can't just set a "size" and if someone doesn't have one? Then they borrow someone's and use a chain (supplied by them?) Unless we just pick a standard? Say off the roll RS? Or LGX? Or (fill in your choice here?)?
I wouldn't want to run a 32" bar on a 24" Cant. I will post later in the GTG, so I don't crowd it up here. Back to regular scheduled programming Nice bar Swags (to stay on topic).
