I have hard wood floors and I just put my Omega right on I with the factory pad that came with it. Is this enough? Seems like 3/16" steel pad is very little protection especially as hot as that ashpan gets. Hope I don't have any pyrolosis starting. I've. Been smelling smoke lately but the wind has been out of the south and that has happened with my old stove.
The manual clearly states it doesn't need anything more. I was fine with that when I installed it but I had no idea then how hot that ash pan gets. Its too hot for me to touch on the outside of the stove. Too bad there isn't a way to contact Enviro.
If the factory states the pad on it is enough? Then I'd say your vent may have a small leak somewhere (reason for smoke smell). With carpet I would worry more than Hardwood floors. Do you have an IR thermometer? Can you take floor temps under the unit while it's running?
