For most of the past 20 years, Wal-Mart Stores Inc. has let another company build and operate gas stations in the parking lots of its stores. Now, the retailer has decided it wants to pump its own gasoline.
Last week, Wal-Mart executives told Murphy USA Inc. that going forward it will build and operate its own gas stations. Murphy will continue to run the more than 1,000 locations it has already built near Wal-Mart stores.

    Let's see:
They have their own grocery stores, eye vision, auto repair/tire shop, clothing, jewerly, pet section, gun and ammo, bakery, and liquor stores.

Next thing they will be getting into is sometype of a Dr. Office/heath care business.

Sam Walton would have never invisioned the drain his stores are having on the local "Mom/Pop" business people in America. :(

Similar to pet stores, hardware stores, office supply stores and grocery stores. Did you hear that walmart is closing stores in some places? Certain places they ran most the local mom and pop stores out of business, now the residents will be without groceries and other necessities.

And Pharmacy Store in almost every Wal-Mart. The local Price-Chopper is opening a Pharmacy in its grocery store here. Interesting. We just had a Walgreens close its Pharmacy/store that was only 3-4 years old.

Has always been about the bottom line and the stockholders............"Take No Prisoners"...........and the only place the blame can be placed is solely on the shoulders of the consumer. The consumer is to blame for the demise of mom & pop businesses. "Big Box" mantra......If you build it, they will come..:makeitrain"

Rottiman, I totally agree. I have not stepped one foot in a Walmart in over 5 years. If we don't shop there they will change. It is the same as shopping on Christmas day, Etc. We "vote" with our wallets.

No gas stations at Wal-Mart's around here. Even if there were I would not buy it from them as I would assume it to be very low quality, probobly lower than Arco which I avoid line the plague
