Am I the only one having problems with Barefoot Pellets this year? I used them 2 yrs ago without a problem, but not this year.
What kind of problem are you having with them? Like IHP said, there were issues mentioned earlier in the season with unexpected clinkers (I think).
Your not alone. Barefoots where terrible for me. They just wouldn't burn. No matter what or what air setting. They just kept over flowing the burn pot. Switched to somersets that same day and it was a night and day diffrence
I'm almost positive my stove is clean and everything is working correctly, but I'm getting ash build up, clinks, in my burn pot
3 tons of bad product is awful to get stuck with, not to mention how much money it must have cost. Go grab a couple bags of another brand to try, just to see if you notice a big difference. Also give a few bags of those barefoots to a friend to try, and see how they perform in a different stove. If it all points back to a bad batch, then you could contact the retailer where you bought them and see if they will work with you. If they are reputable and stand behind the products they sell, they should be willing to trade them out for another brand or batch. If that doesn't work then you could also try to contact the manufacturer. That can be hit or miss, as some manufacturers are not very responsive (in my experience) but it's always worth a shot. If I was in your shoes, I would try anything to resolve it.
If all else fails buy another ton of something that works for you and start mixing them. That might make them easier to deal with
I burned a bag of pellets I used last year. I still got clinks and ash build up. Good news, bad news, right! Fans are running, pipe is clear, flame looks bright and sharp...
Tried the leafblower cleanout. cool! Dirty, but cool. The flame looks sharp and bright, so lets see what happens in a few hours.
Concerning Barefoots[ this year] burned a few bags over the weekend.... good heat, not a lot of ash but, Lot of snap/crunch sounds..Pellets are getting decapitated heading into the burnpot via the Slide plate that let's them fall from the hopper to the Auger.. Lots of long pellets which my Harman can handle but Man are they hard..!! Took a few long ones out and they take a bit of pressure to snap in two.. Not sure If I want to hear that for 50 bags......
