Well I took a ride to depot and grabbed 25bags at $3.99bag. I'm gonna burn a few bags this week and see how the hastings likes em. If they burn like i hope I'll probably run back and grab another 25. Pic for proof! Please excuse my poor stacking job. I had them niceand tight until i hit a wicked bump on the way home.
Im not that close to the hustle and bustle of the big box stores areas. I try to plan my trips there wisely though
Like NH, prices haven't moved up here, but everyone is slowly moving tons out. I'm beginning to think it may not happen up here. I hope it does because I want to get next years pellets now. I can see some inventory issues next year if they get burned bad this year. The BB's will be very leery of bringing in too much stock if oil prices stay low.
The Walmart here raised prices from $5.18/bag to $5.64/bag sometime in the last 2 weeks. HD dropped to $199/ton but site sez "limited inventory". I was there a month ago and saw 3 half skids in the lawn/garden dept. Nothing out front and nothing at the side of building.
Local HD has not lowered prices. That is OK though. They only have about 3/4 of a ton in stock and are only getting two or three trucks in Feb according to the manager. She sdaid the district manager told her that they were burned pretty hard with the stock up this season and likely will revert to "normal" practice going forward. Local TSC also dropped to 4.99. They only have Garbage however.
You should see the HD stores around here, a few of them still have 400-500 tons. It's funny when you drive in and see they have pallets stuffed in different areas of the parking lot because they have so many. The stores that have dropped to $199 are starting to move them. The ones that remain at $259 aren't selling much of anything.
Picked up my ton today. Lowe's kind of screwed me a bit, the ton they "couldn't get to" because of the snow miraculously wound up inside the store and selling them as loose bags. Luckily, there was another ton sitting there that wasn't water logged. One ton was completely destroyed because the wrap had a bunch of cuts on it and the weather got into it.
Just did my Monday "runnin around doing errands", and had to stop in Wally World and TSC.....here's what I found:
