I get $26.95 oil changes for the Cruze (Dexos 1 rated oil) as long as I own it. Not bad. I figure as long as it has a warranty, then the dealer can change the oil. If the engine lets loose, I don't want to argue about who did what for oil changes.

When I took the truck in to the dealer a few weeks back for the 4WD problem I had them change the oil as I didn't feel like laying on a cold garage floor, and it was due for a change anyway. It cost me $28.44 plus tax, and that's with 6 quarts of oil. It's hard to justify doing it myself for that price, but I probably will when the weather is warmer.

The only thing I won't do is go to one of those instant oil change places. I worked in a garage for 5 years and I hated doing oil changes on vehicles that had their last oil change done at an instant oil change. I think those guys used impact wrenches on everything they touched. The only thing that sucks worse than seeing a rounded off drain plug, or worse a rounded off 'in pan oil filter' plug on the GM 2.5L iron duke motors is trying to get the dang thing out.

You're safe now, all the dukes are in the graveyard.... with the exception of the postal LLV's and those have spin ons.

The world is a better place with those gone. I'm sure if I look close enough I have oil burn scars on my arm from those damm things.

If I remember, you needed a rubber arm to get between the brake booster and the intake. I replaced a few ignition modules in the day.

Thanks for the link. This is definitely a professional thing (I'm no mech and don't want to be - plus no place to work on it anyway). And her insurance will be paying.

It seemed like a good moment for a public service announcement. : ) I would hope that the insurance company would make sure, 100% sure, that your front end is correct. Most insurance companies won't arbitrarily pay for new parts unless someone can demonstrate that there was obvious damage or it's directly related to the A/A. That's what I went through years ago. As time goes on, many folks realize they have an issue but may not attribute it to the original cause. Have you ever followed a vehicle that is side winding down the road, not tracking properly? The tires begin to scrub off in some weird way. Vehicles are much like shoe boxes, if you twist the box, the lid won't fit on the top just right. The alignment spec's "are within tolerances", yet tires always seem to have a shorter life span. Pot holes and the terrible roads we have up here can have the same effect.

The work I am willing to do on my own vehicle is getting smaller. The very first one to be nixed was exhaust work. Luckily todays exhaust usually lasts the life of the vehicle.

I try and change my oil as late in the fall as possible and can hopefully get through the winter before the next. I do need one now but was not home this weekend to do it.

My Ridgeline allows me to crawl underneath and change the oil/filter without a jack, although I now throw an old blanket down on the asphalt to to lessen the knee pain.

Not home since Sat morning so the stove was off since Friday night-Went to visit dad for the afternoon in Mass and then back to Maine late afternoon with my honey. Got home around 6:30 Sunday. Gave the cat his medicine and the stove was calling. Quick full cleaning (no venting though), empty the ashpan and put back together in 25 minutes.

The P68 design and using good pellets makes cleaning sooooo easy :)

Well, we ended up seeing the new star wars movie last night at a small closet theater in a college town about 35 miles away. I wanted to see it next weekend in a new theater that even has it in 3D. I guess I could say it was entertaining.

I liked the new one a lot more than I thought I would-I did hold out for one of the new theatres though. HUGE screen, recliner chairs kick azz sound system but I chose a no 3d showing. Not a fan since most of the glasses are not comfortable over my glasses.

My ultimate rating of a movie is reserved for those films I would watch again, like The Sting. This one, I have this feeling that it should have been two films and although entertaining, it just wasn't fluid in the story line. A huge screen, recliner chairs theater is about 2 1/2 hours from here. As it was the theater with the 3D and new sound system would stop showing the film this Thursday. It was see it at this college town theater with speakers that crackled once in a while or not see it for some time. Off we went. It was a good night out, which tend to be tough to come by due to our elder care responsibilities.

Went to see The Finest Hour in an IMAX 3D theater. i thought it had the recliners...but it didn't. Good movie, but the screen writer took a lot of liberties to "make it more dramatic and add to the chic flick format" worth seeing particularly after reading the book.

What did you folks watch last night, how to dance on one foot?

You do understand that the breaking of various body bones is a well developed art for this bear. My wife said I was really moving the last time. You take care and pay close attention to the bone docs.

Well let's see what the bear has been up to. Yesterday was laundry day, been getting eggs from the girls again they took 8 weeks off this winter, getting ready for an inbound overseas call and meeting with Netgear level 2 on Thursday. Seems that they can't reproduce the issue. No problem, I can, a little legal matter prevents me from sending a thumb drive full of issue causers. Us bears have been known to be very tenacious when we chase gremlins. The boss has gone to open sew at the church today so we have the house to ourself, KC has had her morning belly rubs and likely is waiting for her morning wrestling match (aka, make the bed), this will be followed by a nap.
