That's really nice. We have an "Augie" right now. He needs a lot of attention and work, but he is my ever-loving buddy. Classic "high-risk vs. high-reward" case.

Hey, I have always said there is a price to pay for the love of an animal. "If you are not willing to pay that price, then you don't deserve that friend." Oggie was a rescue and so is Buddy. They know what you are doing for them, even though they have a history, which is hard for them to overcome sometimes. It is just their fear of a return of the past.
Oh, I should explain Oggie being a girl. My daughter rescued her from a bad home and brought her to ours. She already had 2 dogs. When I came home from work, Jen and my wife were waiting with Oggie (who had come from a town called St Joe Ogden. As I walked in the door, Oggie ran and jumped into my arms and started licking me. My wife and daughter said, "can we keep her?" Being a typical hard azz male, I said, " there are too many females in this house, so if she is going to stay, I get to name her with a male name and she has to act like a male, You know, hike her leg when she pees, and be a rough neck. Of course I was just trying to hide the instant bond and love I felt for that dog. Anyway, the name Oggie for female. And oh, she must have been listening, because she was a rough neck and hiked her leg to pee from then on. God I miss that dog.

tfdchief, what a great story, I too try to be hard, daughter wanted bunny, I said no, you got to earn it! take dog for walk etc etc, then wife said I want bunny what about your dog. last time we went to friends new year eve. 4 hours put lady in crate came home 4 hours later dog made herself physically sick, both ends! smelled it walked in door. I said I'll bath dog you get crate, I put dog in bath, wife took destroyed crate, Shepherd chewed bars ripped door off hinges, threw it in back yard and vacuumed area. Who got to clean that you guessed it me!

but she is my wife, I love her and she is a stubborn french Canadian which translates too tell her no she'd do it anyway. so yup I said I didn't say you couldn't have rabbit, I'm not :loco:  yet. We got rabbit and I'm still married!

Not really, just learned long time ago listen to the experienced ones that are where you want to be!:D

I am not asking anyone married 4 times for marriage advice! but watched grandparents and others who were happily married for 50 years. That's just common sense.

Funny story 2nd grade I was labeled EMR, Educate ably Mentally challenged) by a guidance counselor, I went to IVY league school made high honors. Mailed that man his report on me and my grades with a sticky note that said..... Do you think your overpaid?

Not gifted just figured out I could out work most of them:)

Ok, DaveGunter, as promised, Maple chasing the red dot. I tried this afternoon, but it was too sunny to see the dot. With low light, it worked good. The video doesn't do her justice, the one part, she's pretty far. She would chase this thing for hours if i had that much time. Enjoy!

Well look who's in Dawn's spot on the bed! The little one is standing in the background in disbelief.

Sandy has done well for her first week here. Much more confident. She's eating twice a day now and has consistently done her biz outside for 5 days. Walking on a leash now too, no sweat, while wagging her tail off... She's also starting to yip and yap in her crate... something she learned yesterday when she was in it when the huskies first got here. Another sign she's feeling more trusting... no longer silent and scared. She still "smiles" at Giz when she moves close for a sniff... ;)
