We keep seeing TV footage of horrendous weather Stateside.
That looks awful. I am glad we NEVER see any of that.....
We are just starting to get a smattering of calls about stoves so maybe that means you are over the hump.
    Good luck and stay warm....

Our weather is really bad alot of the time, but:whistle: we live in a tough weather area in the states....... I would have to add though, we have some really nice days here in the summer when the heat and humidity is oppressive in milder states. And, yes we love our pellet stove!!

I'm in NY, and so far, this winter has been great! All told, since the cold actually set in, I've had maybe 1-2" of sn*w. Maybe a weeks worth of really cold weather, but forecast for this coming weekend is high 40's and 50's. Heat bill is way down too.
IMO, a GREAT winter so far.

I havent seen a single flake this year in hyde park, N.Y. but our "great weather" is dismally low. Typically we have 3-6 nice days a year where its sunny and in the 70's. Usually occurs in june/july and is followed by weeks of rain.

Hmm, the horrendous weather is in parts of the country where they don't get the weather like we normally do here. This year it is nuts. Next week it is suppose to be in the forties and one day will reach 50. o_O

January and sometimes February can have weeks of -30 degrees F at a time here. I challenge J Inhofe to make a snow ball here in the northern most part of New York. I moved here to evade the Lyme disease carrying ticks that had infested the Hudson Valley. If we don't have the killing temperatures then we will have the ticks up here also.

Crappy weather usually starts in October (sometimes September) and lasts through April (sometimes May).

Easily 7 months minimally each year.

    That's not bad?

Depends on how you define crappy. Down here on the other side of the bridge from yooperdave , we get into the cloudy weather starting around November 1. If I had to guess, we get maybe 14 days of sunshine between November 1 and March 1.

In between, its gray skies, snow/rain/ice/whatever. April through October aren't bad.

I've seen temperatures as low as -24 and as high as 104. And once the weather turns nice, then it's time for the mosquitoes and deer flies to show up....

But I'll take this over hurricanes/mudslides and earthquakes any day.

Hmmm think I'll stay in Straya. None of that nonsense here...
Biggest natural risk here is bushfires and nasties in the bush. Easy to avoid - stay out of the bush.:D

Stove season here in Western Oregon starts in late September with a few fires and then by mid to late October we are into the season.

Basically October to April is pretty much the thick of it.
May is a Shoulder month and can see warm days with no fire at all and then cool off and get nasty for a day or two.
By the second week in June stove season is done.

A few years ago we had a day or two in July that we had some rain and cool weather and had a couple "spot fires" to knock out the chill.

Yesterday and today we have had the stove off during the day.
Temp out now close to 3 pm is around 60 F but snow by the weekend.

Weather varies a bunch around here.
We can see Snow up until the end of March, though anything that late is short lived and is more of a nuisance than anything big.

If we have not had a big snow by the end of February it's not gonna happen.

Droughts are in vogue right now.

They keep talking about drought here too, until it rains hard enough to send hillsides tumbling and houses floating down the river, then its all quiet for a few weeks.

Then it dries up for a day and a half and the drought freaks start hanging the black crepe again.

December we had nearly 3 times the normal rain and the media cried about it, it snowed in the mountains big time and it was terrible.

    Never happy.

Maybe the govmnt is playing with the HAARP again.

Besides getting a butt kicking from this last storm, this winter has been great. It is definitely a lot warmer then the last winter. I am only 48 bags deep. Hopefully no more snow, and the temps do not take a nose dive!

    :D

NW corner of CT. we see it get cooler in late September early October. Last until late April. Snow doesn't usually start hitting us until mid December. Mostly gone by mid March early April.

Temps are -21*C with windchill of -32*C +.
Quite windy with blowing snow as we speak. A far cry from -14*C they called for:loco:

    -32*C= -32*F:shiver:
