New flash this morning = Frozen pipes!

lets say i am a believer in more insulation now

 

'bout dammed time.

 

So much for that theory… the hot water pipes froze the other night. So my son came over and pointed a small electric heater at the pipes and left. Still no water the next morning so I asked my bride to go downstairs to see if the heater is working and she tells me she shut it off last night!!!!!

 

Everyone loves cool plumbing....almost as much as cool old cars.

 

An acquaintance just retired from the local school system. So off to Florida he went for a winter vacation. But back home here, we loose our power for a few days. His home cools off, pipes freeze and burst. Mass destruction through his entire house. Wall, flooring, pipes etc all need to be replaced. He is now "vacationing" in a motel while his home is being fixed. Many thousands of dollars in damages. We don't travel anymore and I am very content with that.

 

We are doing the Florida thing next month… we always have someone babysit the house…. you know… come over and let the dog out, eat our food, pilfer through the underwear drawer….
