Gasifier , I hope the idiots that banged on the metal causing your wife's broken collarbone got at least a harsh scolding. I'd prefer a punishment by stuffing them in a large steel container and then having everyone bang baseball bats on it for a minute or three.

That might get the point across.:heidi:

Or, she could slip and fall in the shower and be paralyzed (or die) - just saying. If you don't take some sort of risk for what your passionate about, then you ain't living.

The instructor read them the riot act. Wife said they felt bad because they realized right away as soon as they stepped through the door what had happened. Said they didn't know. :picard:Instructor cancelled their lesson right away so she could help my wife out and get her to hospital.

Yeah, keep telling yourself that. Don't think that she doesn't worry about you and chainsaws, tractors or even just driving down the road. She is expected to just deal with it. Please give her the same courtesy and let her deal with her type of dangers. I can't count the guys that "worry" about how I'm on a bike and how dangerous it is. But, it's "not the same" when they are on a bike, or 4-wheeler or whatever. Don't let your discomfort in feeling helpless to prevent any potential damage take away from her pleasure in finding things that she likes to do.

Okay, off my high horse now :)

Yup. I fully realize that bogieb. Said it before. I know you can't live in a bubble. You have to do some of the things you love to do. And I'm doing a ton of work to make her a beautiful place for her horses. But you also have to keep in mind that being healthy and having good mobility is a gift. A gift that I treasure. That a lot of people take for granted until they are injured and have to deal with. A A gift you can lose if you are not careful. My wife is a very active person. Always doing something. Walking, riding her bike, gardening, painting, sewing, playing with kids, all the work she always does. Unfortunately she can't do any of those things now. And it will be a long while before she can.

She has begun her dream of owning her own horses by taking lessons and just LOVES it each time she goes. Well, except the last time. Just sayin .

Apparently you have missed all the work I've been doing to prepare for the horses we will be getting. Everything has risk. But my point is you have less control over a living, breathing, thinking, reacting 1200 lb. animal with instinct. Similar, I guess to those people on the road looking at there cell phone or not paying attention for whatever reason. I remember not to long ago a woman in the Watertown area bought her husband a new Harley Davidson. He had always wanted one. Took the motorcycle riding lessons. All the safety stuff. Got his license and when she was following him home on his new bike......An older lady made a right hand turn right into him and killed him, right in front of his wife. Said she never saw him. Sad stuff. Off my safety rant now.

Precisely..........that is why after 40 years of riding we decided to pack it in this year. When your in your 60's it takes too long to heal. With the ever-increasing volume of idiot cagers who now place their inattentive habits above driving, I figured that to continue was just like spinning the cylinder on a revolver. At 66 my reflexes aren't getting any faster or better. I just don't want to jeopardize either of us. As my signature says..............I've been there, done that, time to move on (in one piece).

The age thing has me more concerned than anything I think. Slower reflexes , muscles and bones not as strong as they use to be, and slower healing. Oh well. Time to make it happen and work at and hope for the best!
