My son Matt made this really good cutting board in the school wood working shop. The boards started off as rough cut pieces, different sizes, used a table saw to make the pieces even, each piece was planed, glued, cleaned up, and sanded. A few coats finished it up.
He's off to a great start. I too like the contrasting colors of the different species. I think I might have missed my calling being a wood shop teacher.
Great job Well Seasoned's Matt A young man developing an appreciation for woodworking is seemingly becoming rare any more, as schools across the country remove shop classes..... Keep that interest up in him; like dave70 mentioned his 13 year old looking after the mechanicals of their operation, it's great when "dad" can build up the confidence and "taking pride in your work" ethic that our future requires
I'll second that, you are right on Eric. More and more traditional college students are coming out with major debt and not getting good paying jobs while technical schools are doing sometimes better for their future. Don't get me wrong though I'm not against traditional college by any means but we need hands on down and dirty folks too. GOOD JOB MATT VERY NICE
Giving Matt the for a great woodworking project.. The seasoned parents get for teaching and raising kids with skills.
