Gas, how's the Taco "hangover"?

 

I never have a "problem" with food. I just step outside sometimes to share the fragrance with the trees and the squirrels.

Worked outdoors from about 9 AM until 4 PM. Cut a few scrap trees out of the way to make room to taper things away from barn area and a road I'm building to go from barn area to camp road. Then used the Kubota for five straight hours moving fill for those two things. Luckily I was able to keep up with the dump truck driver. Some big ol rocks in some of this fill can make it take longer to get things all moved around and situated.But all in all a great amount of progress done today. And the best part is I'm getting the fill DIRT cheap!!!!

The Kubota ran flawless. It got a good workout today and never missed a beat.

 

Are you downsizing the size of the barn since your going with the "LITTLE" horses ?................

 

Boss told me and another guy we would be on 2-day weeks until further notice!

That could suck, or could be good - depends on your circumstances. Hope it is all good for you!

 

Yes. Even the other guy (we are a team) is overjoyed about the news.
After I do some research (phone calls, etc.) I'll let the boss know if it is going to be financially feasible for me to stay in this status or not. He is willing and interested to help out by maybe working more one week and less another week, etc. He made it clear to let him know the results of my findings.

 

I've got some Veteran's "stuff" I have been putting off since last October (that's when I jumped on board the job) and hope to get that taken care of now.

 

Nope. She is still going for the horses. The normal, big ones. Even though she doesn't think her shoulder is healing right and is going back to the doctor. Unfortunately she has to wait until Friday for that. She is going to have them x-ray it again, he was going to check it sometime after two weeks to see how it is healing. This will be almost three weeks. But she can feel it move every now and then. And she is not doing anything. Being very careful.

Tough subject. I have tried to convince her before any of this happened that she could get hurt. Neither of us grew up around horses, nor do we know anything about them. So we have a lot to learn. And that is why she is taking basic lessons. Getting use to them. And has fallen even more in love with them. Then she gets hurt.

But. What do I know? So I didn't say anything for a while after this happened. Felt bad for her. But after a while I have tactfully tried to make her understand just how fortunate she was that it wasn't worse. She could have hurt her neck, back and done something that may have been much worse. And she still could in the future. It could be her. It could have been our youngest daughter. Who was taking lessons with her before but had stopped because we were trying to save some money.

Not worth it in my opinion. But. What do I know?

Well, I do know this. That 1200 pound horse is a living, breathing being that has a mind of it's own. Feelings of it's own. It has instinct of it's own. And if it gets spooked and/or decides for whatever reason it is going to take off quick, kick, rise up, bash you against the wall of the stall. No one is going to stop it.

A tough position for me to be in. Frustrating. I am giving into my wife after I initially told her NO to the horses. But, of course, she was persistent. And because I figure if that is what she wants. She deserves it. She does not ask for much of anything. And works tirelessly for her family. So, reluctantly, I am going to make it happen for her.

Even though I don't think it is the right thing to do.

If something bad happens to her, or worse, one of our little ones, I don't know what I will do. I think it will hurt our relationship. Even though it shouldn't. It just would.

It is one thing if we had been around horses all our lives. But we haven't been. And my wife is not an agile, athletic person. She is more of a klutz. So I do not think she is a horse person. Not the type of person who can just take up owning/caring for horses at her age now. Early 50s. I am not enjoying this. She can not do anything. She just had to decide to take the whole week off from work because she felt her shoulder move and thinks it is not healing right. So, who knows. They may have to do surgery and pin it together.

Sorry for the venting.

 

I parted ways with my former employer on Nov 6th, figured I would hang out for the winter and get something going in the spring. A competitor called me and made me an offer I could not refuse, the wife found out, back to work on Dec 7th, only a month off.
