its not always just gas! been sitting close to half a year. finally managed to get hood open to fill oil. started after only 30s of cranking. barely had enough battery for that but it re-charged off the alternator just fine. coolant reservoir empty. trans dipstick was dry. PS stick dry. the rust holding the oil tube together broke free when i pulled on that dipstick. added almost 5 quarts. nothing is spewing out the hole. got the drivers window to stay up, for now. re-attached the plow light, tape and cable ties. will look into blow motor tonight and put plow on. this truck is an '87, ~45k miles. the only items not original: oil filter, distributor/plugs/wires, 2/4 tires (maybe 4/4), plow pump, radio, speakers, and half of a rear brake line (waiting for the rest to go). idk, this thing has yet to let me down. except for reverse gear. if i give any throttle in R it just slips. makes for fun plowing!
Yeah, that was my thought. Had to be a J truck. I know the grand wagoneer was made until like 1990. Thirsty jeeps. It should be jeeb. Just empty every bottle.
Took that thing on the road today! Guy at the liquor store asked if i wanted to sell. Cant say yes... Plow is on and found the short in wiring. Heater blower fixed. Even got the windshield washer working! Idk what 4WD is doing but bring on the snow. This truck will push in 2WD almost as well if i put some weight in the back!
They laughed at my old snow horse, too......................until they saw it pushing snow. Now I've got two guys after me to sell it................
The ski hill I worked at had a question of block that was used as trst weight for ski lift brake load holding certifications. The rest of the time it was 'stored' in the bed of the beater '90s f350 diesel plow truck with an ancient western on the front. Once you got a head of steam going that sucker would plow through just about any snow bank. God help you if you got it stuck, skip the little cat and go for the D6.
I hear ya, theres about 600 lbs. of wet oak in the back of "Willie"................1st gear hi range let the clutch out and he just rolls along. When you get to the bank if you don't push the clutch in, he just keeps the wheels goin round and round.........................
