I was in town in the car, 1997 Olds 88, when I stumbled across some Somerset pellets. I promptly bought 25 bags and crammed them into the Olds.....apparently I have a half ton Olds...heh...

    OH YEAH BUDDY

    Them OLD OLD'S ARE TANKS

Years ago my dad was at the depot and they had pellets on sale and he loaded a full pallet load in an Olds 98 station wagon.

The beast was down on its haunches, but got it home.

    Yup, gotta gitterdone

I have drug home a full ton in the 2500 Burb 4x4 many times, but they are a truck.

    Fun times

All the way home I kept wondering if a tire blows out and this thing rolls, I will probably be suffocated by pellets. Yeh she was squattin down pretty good.

Having been in commercial trucking for years I learned early on that RULES can be broken, but ya gotta be real careful.

No radical motion, keep speed very conservative and allow loads of extra stopping distance.

If one take the extra precautions, then you can bend rules a loooooooooong way and not get into trouble.

Now if ya gotta hit the super slab and really haul grass with it, ALL BETS ARE OFF

No air suspension, just standard. I'm afraid I didn't get pics, maybe next time. Yeh I had to ease it down the interstate as the front end started shimmying above 70. I was surprised at how well it coped with the load overall. I guess it's not much different then having four good sized adults in the car really.

Snowy, I have a dually but I've never stuck two pallets in. I might have to try that.

i love stories of overstuffed vehicles. Reminds me of when i first bought the house. I had this mitsubishi galant. I hauled home a 14x16 gazebo. I had to take it out of the box to fit it in. I had gazebo parts sticking out of every window - barely any room for me. I could barely put her in gear with all the room the gazebo took up.

Then there was the snowblower. The trunk was a no go. not even close. so i stuffed half of it in the backseat while the other half stuck out and drove home with the back door open. Steered with 1 hand and held the blower in with the other. made it home just fine but did get beeped at a few times on the way home.

    oh those were the days.

1000 pounds...that's four 250 pound people in the car, back in the early 80's we drove everyday to 2 a day football practices in a pinto wagon with that much load! Some days we would have one or two kids in the cargo area also.

Throw some hydraulics on that low rider and get the fuzzy dash cover and some dice to hang off the rear view mirror. LOL! Sets are worth the risk.

I wouldn't hesitate a bit putting 2 tons in the back of a dually.

That Diesel GMC in the piccy had been outfitted to haul a big AZZ fiver before I bought it used.
Not sure whether the rear springs had been beefed up, don't think so.

4000# made her sit down a bit for sure.

My only concern was the fact that the pallet loads are high, and the bags are just wrapped with that stretchy wrap stuff.

Did not want the loads to fall over.

    All went well.
The old 6.5 handled the pull real easy.

I gave that truck to my Son in law about a year or so ago.

It just sat here in the yard most of the time after I built a fresh engine for it, and he loves GMC trucks.

He drives it most times and leaves his Dodge Diesel in the driveway at home.

A long Dahooooley will handle 2 pallets nicely

Here's my pellet hauler. Bone stock 01 Tacoma 4 banger. Most I've hauled was just just about 4000lbs. Didn't plan on hauling that much but when I went to HD for pellets and lumber, they had roofing shingles at a steal so I got those also. Ended up with 1300# in the bed and a pallet of pellets with a bunch of lumber on the trailer. Never thought I'd keep it for 15 years but it's been the best vehicle I've ever owned. 1 battery, 1 brake job, 1 clutch, 3 sets of tires and a bunch of oil changes is all she's ever needed.

Can't fault that one little bit.

That sort of thing is the way it should be.
