    Hahaha! ;)

The truth is, as I was originally working on this thread, all of the pics had been conglomerated on our laptop, and my daughter dropped it on the staircase one evening. So that was that, took a while to,get the screen replaced and I forgot about the thread......

I'll get cracking at it later this evening.....just waiting for some mortar to dry....

Did you consider or look into engineered I beams or engineered trusses?

I like your approach. Overkill in situations involving wood burning is the only way to go. I am an old Napoleon lover and have been to both their factory and showroom warehouse. They are quality people and make good stoves.

I did, but opted for the scissor modification, as to do it any other way would have involved some major roof renovation. Each truss was built one at a time without compromising the roof....

I had a local amish carpenter help me with the truss modification, with some simple math and a taut, level string as a reference (where the bottom of the scissors would be located), they came out perfectly. It was the first time in his life that he converted roof rafters into scissor trusses, he enjoyed doing the job with me!

I love the install, and the nz too.

I'd love to have one tied into ductwork to heat my whole house.

Too bad it's not an easy install like throwing the quadrafire 4100 I got this late fall.

That beast seems like the best of both worlds.

Necessity is the mother of invention...lol

I had some people tell me it couldn't be done, but there it is! And we've had over 5' of snow on that roof, and no stress or strain. So I'd say we did it right.....

    Overkill. Total overkill......;)

Trust me, it wasn't easy. And I am ANAL when it comes to critiquing my own work...I'm my own worst enemy. I knew it was going to be a long road to get it the way I wanted it. Lots of variables and different things that needed figured out. It was a big job.

But we are on the 5th year of use and it's been an amazing heater. During the winter, it's the center of attention for the family every evening!!

Sure did do it right! 5 feet of snow is proof. We start to deal with however if the snow gets that deep and rain is forcasted. Lot's of people up with snow floats and shovels when that happens. A few always manage to fall off. We went to metal and it sheds snow real well so no more of that nonsense for this old dude. I'm a 'grounder' now.

Scotty, did you ever get the duct work fired up underneath? If so, how is that working? That was/is the best part of my install, the duct with inline fan I installed to blow warm air down to my first floor (my stove is on 2nd floor). It's not ideal, but it works pretty dang good.
