I shut her down today. The agitation noise was, well.....agitating! I unhinged the lever and the outer pot came off easy enough. How does the agitator rod come out? I dont see anything in the manual I down loaded about this. I hope I don't have to pull a side panel off to do this.....also it's getting chilli. The little Harman can in no way heat this place...

OK I looked on the other site and found a post saying turn agitator 1/3 of a revolution and slide left. That still isn't working. Maybe I need a bigger hammer/pry bar?

ok got it out. Too much carbon build up to allow for enough movement to take it out. Had to chip off alot of that carbon first then popped it out. There is still all of carbon caked to this liner. I'd like to take it to work and sand blast it clean but the temp is dropping too quickly. Down to 61 with the little Harmless running wide open. My dog is shivering....lol.

Flat prybar seems to work pretty good on the carbon buildup. What kind of grease do you guys use? I think I have some high temp anti seize somewhere. I think its called copper Graff. I'll try it. .....everyone must be watching Seahawks get the chit beat out of them.....lol

well I've got about 80% of it off but tho last bit is super hard and wont budge. Might have to heat it and quench in some water to pop it off. I'm sure that stainless will cool at a much faster rate then that carbon and probably separate.

WP_20160117_14_43_23_Pro.jpg Got her done! Had to get some frequencies in it with the Dremel vibratory tool (had to peel it out of the ole ladies fingers). Lotsa elbow grease and done. I've never seen so much carbon build up before. I dunno what Somersets are adding to there batch material, all I know is these are not your fathers Somersets.

I put a few more holes in that burn pot, we'll see what happens. Man this stove lights fast. 75 seconds from the moment I turned it on. I thought my Cumberland was fast. It would light in just under 2 minutes. I'm going to go get son more pellet and open this thing up and see how long it takes for the carbon to build up again.

You cheat, :D I usually just beat the chit out of it with a hama and chisel. ;)

Summer shut down I usually hit it with carb clean of a oven clean(if the wife has any left). Let it soak a bit and hit it with hot water or dump it in a bucket of hot water and soak a bit more. Safes a bit on the knuckles as I chisel off the rest. I heard some steam clean with a heated pressure washer and it blasts it right off so they say. I don't have excess to a steam machine.

I'll have to try the power tool method next round.

When we had the old American Harvest I used to remove the agitator and burn pot and go out back and chip the carbon off the burn pot with the agitator. Then I would bring it inside and run hot water over them and used a steel brush on them. At start of the season I would take them to the shop and sand blast em.

    Doggy

Ahhh steam cleaning...there's an idea. I have one of those shark steam cleaners I use to clean up diesel engines with. That might eve work better I'll have to quickly get some carbon built up so I can try that.

On another note....i was looking an the Enviro Max burn pot liner and it looks a bit different....anyone tried it on the old Omega?

The standard Maxx? Don't think it fits without messing with the brackets that hold it in. Never tried though, Kind of like my agitator. The Maxx M(new) is the same IIRC to the Omega. The M55 also fits and I might try someday. Think it has more air holes than the Omega.Maxx M liner.

I've drilled holes in my liner to help reduce where the carbon sticks. Next time its out I'll snap a few pic's of the final. So far its run 56 bags and still in it without cleaning. I usuallly don't let it go so long, But been a bit lazy.............

Yes I saw your thread on the holes. I did something similar just below the ignitor hole. I put four there. There was a lot of carbon on the opposite side but I don't know if its a good idea to go drilling holes everywhere the carbon builds up. It's been about 30 hours now and I hear a faint grinding noise. Not sure if it's just pellets or the beginning of carbon formation.

I'm burning some junk pellets. Southern Indiana Hardwoods. I burned these in my Cumberland and they completely choked my stove down with soot, so it will be interesting to see how the Omega copes with them. Next I will be trying some corn. Haven't used corn in this stove yet so thatll be a new experience.

They were out of Somersets. Guess I should have hoarded some but the thing is no one was really buying them because they were high and gas was cheap. I have just been stopping by and grabbing a dozen bags at a time. In fact I would be burning LP right now had it not been for my furnace breaking two weeks after I filled my propane tank. I haven't used it in about 8 years. A mercury switch bit the dust and apparently they are not longer made. The ones I found for sale were like $375. I can get a new furnace for $400 so that's a no brainer.

Take the pot outside and hit that carbon with the propane torch

It will turn red then pop off

That's a good idea to Snowy!

Like Jay, I've soaked my EP's burnpot in soapy, hot water and the carbon then flakes right off.

A 50/50 mix of corn/pellets always seems to work well for most stoves.

WP_20160119_06_27_37_Pro.jpg Good idea . I'll start with that. Maybe it will help control the ash of these SIH pellets. They have caked up my stove already, just cleaned it. I took a pic but its hard to see. This camera on this phone isnt very good.

I woke up to the annoyingly familiar agitator grinding on carbon noise this morning. Oddly it began after burning the first bag of Somersets I just bought. I've been burning trashy SIH's that I hate. I'll be pulling the pot again to see how bad it built up, clean it, then run a test on Somersets only to see how long it takes to build back up. I have a suspicion, as much as i hate to admit it, that the Somersets are causing the carbon issue. If so that would explain my 4 year battle with that nasty carbon hump I've been enduring with the little Harmless Accentra.
