"The total health and economic benefits of the proposed standards are estimated to be at $1.8 (billion) to $2.4 billion annually" Really, how do you suppose they came up with that figure?
PH is already at that proposed 1.3 grams.. I'm way ahead of them They act like people are burning 365 days a year being constant polluters. Lower the utility prices and no one will care about burning wood. Next they'll be after our outside wood cookers!
Like registering your guns and now these wood stoves... I doubt they have enough man power and vehicles to start running around about guns and woodstoves.. Not with the future America is facing now... We have a lot more issues then guns and woodstoves... What are they going to do start knocking on doors! I see people in jail and shots fired from both sides if they start walking into peoples homes!
They will just make illegal to transfer to new owners -- sell a house and the stove will 'need' to be upgraded. The buyers will demand it and a perfectly good stove will be sent to the landfill or the underground black market for stoves. I think they call it CL.
My homeowners never asked a thing about how old my stoves were or if they were EPA stoves , etc... They just came in and looked, I explained they had more then the minimum clearance, and the chimney systems and that was it.. They never looked at a spec tag or books, nothing... Even building my own hearth.. told them what I did, they didn't even want to see pictures of the build..
Since the emissions in the world is such a huge amount . The amount of emissions from the wood stoves in the USA isnt going to have much of an effect. Especially since not every house hold has a wood stove. They say one forest fire out west or a volcano eruption puts so much stuff into the atmosphere, the amount of emissions from the wood stoves in the USA is rather minor. They say there is a volcano spewing emissions some where in the world everyday.
Come on guys we all need to do our part to prevent global cooling, I mean global warming --- no, no make that climate change (man made) We should all be thrilled at the prospect of spend $3k+ to replace our stoves... think of the effect that you will be having on that family of Dromedary Jumping-Slugs (Hemphillia dromedarius) down the road. I get a little misty eyed just thinking about their plight, might go to turn down the thermostat to 78 or so.
Here they worry about stove emissions,, how about all the radiation coming over from Japan... Maybe they should have made them update their nuclear models!!!!!!!!!! And they're worried about particulates in the air... Was watching a guy with a radiation meter walking one of the beaches on the West Coast,,, way above the safe levels... Of course that will all be hushed up until people are laying in the streets dying, then they'll say they didn't know things were that bad... So make sure you buy a new stove so you save the world,,,,, what a joke!
So being that wood stoves are not going to put a dent in the problem how did they calculate money savings per person?
