For a novice hunter you did a great job with the pose! I never remember to set the deer pose before pics. You braved some serious weather for that deer. You will tell that story many times in the years to come. Congrats!

Congratulations,,,nice size buck... That's a moment you never forget, cross hairs on the deer and squeezing off that trigger and then watching what happens... I haven't hunted in 25 years and got my first deer this year, a Doe.. Meat is almost all gone already.. You'll enjoy eating your venison... Nice job! Antler restriction here,, I would have had to let that buck walk.. Needs to have 3 points min. on one side an inch long.. So I'm looking at a 6 pointer . Missed a monster 8 this year 20 ft away, slide was not all the way forward on my semi auto 30-06.. pulled the trigger but it wouldn't pull... Found out after the buck walked...I got over it
Congrats my friend. Nice buck there. Back straps and tenderloins are what I eat first. That day they are cut thin, breaded, and fried in a light layer of oil with select spices and seasonings Mmmmm.
By yearling, you mean 1.5 yrs? Right? Cause that isn't a 6 month old deer. At 1/2 yr they are pretty small and button bucks, some early born males may have small spikes.
yep that's a yearling a 1.5 yr old. A 6 or 7 month old is considered a fawn. Had a few wildlife biology classes and have aged deer by jaws for managed hunts if you could minor in something and combine your undergrad hours and grad hours together I think I have enough hours to carry a minor in wildlife biology??
