I'm so bored I'm just sitting here reading everything coming in from you all.:) Better than complaining with the wife all day.;) Keep it coming!
I heard about this. I've spent a little down time looking up things lately in what's new with wood burning. It fascinates me where technology can take us. But with the wood burning I notice that a simple concept has created a whole new wave of wood burning interest. More like a whole new wave of wood burning creations. It appears to me that insulating the chimney will create such a high level of burn that reaching these new regulations should be pretty easily reached. I think I read in one report that a rocket type stove that was tested reached levels of 0.55g/h. For me, I like looking at a fire. A rocket is great if you don't like looking a fire and don't mind the space it takes up. What I'm watching for is how will these two types of burners be combined. The possibilities amazing. If you insulated a chimney the temps produced would be amazing to say the least. What if you introduced some new technology I've read about being developed in some of these universities like the one where a new metal alloy has been found to turn heat into electricity. Or how about some way to capture the heat from a chimney set up to distribute it through your house. After the clean burn, chimney cleaning will be a thing of the past. Chimneys could be a thing of the past sticking up through our roofs if we can figure out how to get most of the heat out of what would be the exhaust. I could even see where you could run an air conditioner with the heat created by your wood burner. What would you do with heat normally meant to heat your house in the winter during the summer? There are a lot possibilities out there and once these things come together it should be interesting for sure. What I hope doesn't happen is the same thing that happened back in the 80's when so many wood burning manufacturers just closed their doors. Another way around this is how Harsverna got their new engine technology. Instead of doing the research and development themselves or just putting a CAT on their system, they went out and bought Red Max for their already developed design that reaches these new standards placed on them. This should be an interesting post:)
