Did some scrounging around the backyard for dead and downed that I can burn this year.. As shown in another thread, I'm getting stuff that is under 20% so I'm really lucky to have that. Here's some pics of what I scrounged just after Christmas.

I counted and it was 100 steps from where the wood was to my back porch. Cut the wood so I could carry as big a piece as possible to minimize the trips. Wood came from beyond the stack of pine, beyond the bucked up white oak and close to the house in the background. Got my exercise that day.

Here's a pic of about half of what I cut under the back porch. Just processed this during the warm weather yesterday and got it in the house.

Fortunately I was able to convince the "help" to put in a little overtime as the foreman was getting tired and didn't feel like finishing the job himself!!!

Sure does.. didn't even notice that.. I've seen squirrels and turkey in the back yard and front yard for that matter... That looks more like a rabbit or something in pic 3...

Just giving my kids the opportunity to "walk uphill in a blinding snowstorm to and from school" so they can tell my grandkids how rough they had it!!!;)

what kind of logs did you end up getting out of that?

I like the pics of the kids helping, they are being trained to be the future wood cutters and burners of NH!

Nice pics, Early kid involvement is priceless. In the kids picture, half way up the tree trunk, as you look at it, to the left, looks like the reflection of a set of eyes. .??
