After putting in some wood this morning I hit the trails for some damaged Ironwood, all were up except for the last picture, we have 24 feet of Ironwood rounds. We plan on burning a face cord next heating season.

I might head back in the woods to grab another three Ironwood tomorrow, all are damaged from the ice storm two years ago.
Love that stuff. Even the big rounds of 6/8" stuff dry well in 2 years . No splitting Dream wood. My cousin owns 330 acres right next to me that is loaded with American and hophornbeam. If I ever run out of easy peasey wood I'll start hitting up the hornbeam .
I'd like to have some ironwood to try. It grows in my area, just not where I cut. Great pictures and quite the haul.
I was able to get a total of five Ironwood today, three in the first area, one in the big ravine and the last up with some Sugar Maples. I did split some of it and then stacked it on top of the other chit.
It looks like I'll grab another three Ironwood that are rotting from the top down, they're real close to the trail which will make it nice. Picture 9766 & 9768 are the same tree.
