Although this is pretty good plan generally speaking, I wouldn't advise the OP to start a new saw fund just yet. If the saw starts/idles/runs decent and the piston & cylinder look good the cause of low compression (if that's actually the problem) is typically going to be worn rings . . . or in this case ring. That's a cheap fix. A quick search on ebay says I can get a NOS Husqvarna 350 ring shipped to my door for under $15. Of course if the OP isn't the type to pull the top end of a chainsaw off and swap a ring that's another labor charge. However, if he's close to one of the good folks here on FHC I bet he can get a helluva deal!
Didn't the old 350 have air leak problems when the bottom screws that hold the engine in place....decide to come loose ? My old 350..which has a ton of time on it....starting running funny. So much so that I checked it out. Sure enough....those screws had all worked loose.....tightened them up..back to normal ! Something I always check first now on a 340..345..350...etc .....that come across my work bench
Yeah that's why I said or replace the worn part as he sees fit. Yep an air leak will do that to any saw. Learned that the hard way. That's why I do pressure checks now.
Theese 340 , 350 and some others have also common problems and to the intake boot also , i mean this plastic tighter that keep the intake to cylinder , i always change this with a metal one part number 537 25 13 02 And i always put a ton of thread lockers to the screws that keep the cylinder to the case
Where is the operator ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
No if he solve the problem , lets tell to us , no need to break our heads ............. you know what i mean
Maybe we can just sit here and post to each other keep guessing the problem and talking about past saws. And maybe he will come back and see this post up at the top of the forum?
In that case my guess is this is a classic case of a blown canooter valve. It'll do that every time. As well as a whole host of other saw FUBARs
Sorry I haven't responded before now but I have been so busy. What I found out was the compression was at 145 pounds and the starter pawls were worn. Got them ordered. Thanks to all for the help, would have never thought of the pawls. Barcorftb hit it right. Thanks again to a great bunch of guys.
Glad your back and to hear from you. You had us all on the edge of our chairs for days. Not sure how we could of gone on without this closure!
Tell me about it! I was just getting ready to hold my breath until there was some sort of resolution or sumpthin! Probably would have looked something like this To be fair a couple peeps mentioned pawls before me. I can't honorably accept credit.
You are so right. Thank You: Redfin, DexterDay, XP, and Magnum, you guys sure know of what you speak. Thanks so much.
