That's it!! I had Ciera in my head, I thibk they were cutlass-ciera. That was also the days of the horrific 440-T4 transmission. I did so many R&R for rebuilds that I was able to pull one of those in under 40 minutes. At the time I was apprenticing under a lead mechanic that literally devised many of the mods for GM on that POS.

When I was in trade school, our electrical instructor preached to us that the manufactures were looking for young mechanic minded people to become engineers because they knew what working on a vehicle was really about.

I got an Amazon TV Stick for my TV. It's like a Roku, if you know what that is. Anyway, with my Samsung phone, I can do something called Screen Mirroring. You see on the TV screen exactly the same as what is on the phone. It's great for sharing pictures or videos that you have on your phone so a group of people can see them without huddling around the phone trying to see it. There would be no reason to watch a movie that way though since the TV Stick does that for you.

EDIT: That will teach me for not watching this thread for a day! The darn question has been answered! GRRRRRRRRRRRR.

Not really Jay, not really. :picard: But it's always much more fun w/ a Brewskie or two.

(Just remember to remove all rings, etc. and observe proper anti-static precautions before beginning work, don't want to see that nice new MB or RAM get zapped.. And keep the Beer cans away from the work area, ok?)

Actually that old 440 was updated a few times and renamed, 4T60, then 4T60E when it lost the modulator and went electronic. I thought they were pretty good. Easy to fix.

Doing a little Miracast or whatever are ye tj? I had enough signals flying around in this house that I went around turning off most of the means of sending stuff OTA. Someone out there likely is eavesdropping on us without us knowing we are sending everything we do in the clear most of the time. The list of available means is rather large on the LG Smart TV we have. Well got the last bunch of videos on the router. More Care Bears for the little one and when she is older a few Bengi movies.

I don't doubt you but I find it hard to believe carmakers want anything but cost savings regardless of design...

I wasnt around for the later incarnations as I was transferred to working on Isuzu after a while. Those old 4 cyl Troopers were basic but they ran great and were easy to repair. The only issue was the second year of the diesel engine were Isuzu slapped on a turbo for better pickup but did not beef up the connecting rods. Those things were coming in on flatbeds with the connecting rods sticking out the side of the block. It was so bad that Isuzu extended the warranty for many years. Once they changed the rods, they were outstanding.

Yeah, who knows-none of us took him up on it that I know about. But he was one of the best instructors I ever had. The kind of instructor who would never give you an answer to a question-he would ask you other related questions until you figured it out yourself.

ha! this reminded me of a show i was doing with the little laser.
beam box, dmx controlled with a sound sensor too.
i had all the bounce mirrors set up and the show was rocking along w/ the dj and then the sound guy came over and sat with me and asked how everything was going.
i gestured enthusiastically that i was well pleased with the set up, and in doing so i knocked my beer into the dmx board.
i may actually have laughed then and there.
unplugged the board and held it up to the big floor fan that was running to dry it out and was back to the show in 5 or 10 minutes.
pretty nice considering i thought i was done for the night.

same night i had to run blocking schemes on drunk chick as she found me at my little desk.
    "please go away..."
