Generally around $80 per month, sometimes less, sometimes more, but not much more. Gas (LP) for water heater and cooking.

My last bill was a little higher from this last month due to the holidays along with my extra baking and cooking. The bill was from 12/01 to 01/05 for a total of 333hwh. The actual bill amount was $45.64.

All of my appliances are electric (no fuel, propane or natural gas) and I heat with just wood, and no supplemental electric type heaters. So far this season I have burned a little shy of 80 cubic feet worth and I have been heating since the middle of September.

I too have switched out all of my incandescent and CFL bulbs for LED's. That was about a month and a half ago. Anyway, I expect my metered usage to drop down into the 250kwh range +/- 10 in the coming months. It could probably be even less if I would learn to turn off the lights and other things I leave run 24/7 like the televisions (2) and computer.

I have absolutely a zero gas bill during the winter months. Normally, furnace and water heater on the gas bill, but once I start the OWB, the gas usage is nothing! Not even a pilot light on the water heater!

No gas or oil bills. I heat with electric storage units. My summer bill is $75 and the highest 4 months in the winter are around $275.

I electric bill is about $125 month. With 3 little ones, it seems like we do laundry ever day. The furnace doesn't really go on at all, thanks to firewood. My friends usually pay 300 to 400 per month due to their oil furnaces..

Only electric here. Average about $80/month in winter and $120 in summer. Heat is wood and wood pellets, with around 30 gallons of oil used in the early and late part of the heating season.

Hasn't been a drop of propane through my furnace in 7 years.
@13cents/kwh all electric house , well pump and a security light @$11/mo
    winter 90-110
summer 110-160 (that's with a large pool and AC)
I feel fortunate when I hear of coworkers paying 300-400 in the summer, and NG bills in the same range during winter

Take the amount on your bill and divide by the number of kw/hrs. We use about 480 kwh and our bills run around $110 bucks so I divide 110 by 480 amd it works out to be 22.91 cents per kwhr. It's larceny as Algoma Power produces pretty well all hydroelectric power at under 2 cents/kwhr. Govt collects 13% tax on the $110 so they are happy, Algoma Power is happy and we're the poor (literally) suckers who pay the piper. Anyone who tells me free enterprise is a good system are smoking some damm fine stuff.

Very frustrating this winter. Short version--last months elec & gas = $147 & $128 respectively.
Long version. Sold our old home last March, bought our dream 1899 Victorian home but don't get to move in till this April as its our friends and they're building now. It has a woodburner which is why I joined and have been css wood for about a year now. Our current house, an 1100sq ft rental is poorly insulated with drafty windows. New home, with the woodburner, is 3000sq ft, but new windows, new basement, and insulated well, the bill is about 1/2 of ours and that includes heating the shop... Can't wait to be using that free heat next winter!

$50 - $60 year round for electric, no gas or other paid-for fuels. That includes the well pump. Just my wife and I, and our consumption is low.

About $150 per month if you average out our electric usage.

Cook stove and backup furnace- propane. Use 120-150 gallons/yr.
Electric is all over the place . Generally it's $80-$100 warmer months. When winter hits and the shop gets used more along with furnace blowers/engine heaters plugged in and migrant teens/22 year olds squatting it can hit $200 or more pretty easy.

The big thing is if you put a dollar value to your time and effort, and if you have to buy wood. If your spending $200-300 a cord I don't think you are saving that much (depending on electric and gas rates). If you're cutting your own woods or scrounging for free stuff, and don't mind counting the work as free exercise (some people pay money for that!) then the savings can be substantial! I'd guess heating my poorly insulated and drafty old house exclusively by wood could easily save $2k/yr, more on really cold years or when propane is high.

I'd say the stove and installation is paid for by the second year and maybe even turning a profit in 2. Problem is I keep getting new stoves every couple years!:hair: But I think I finally got the keeper this time, just took going through 3 other stoves to get there. Well not counting the pellet stove, still debating about that piece of junk and what to do with it. Might end up with another woodburner still.

It's hard for me to give a good average for my electric bill since much has changed recently. My ex moving out at the start of '15 really dropped the bills. My son still runs quite a lot of electronics and likes to leave lights on and doors open. Still working on that. I also forget to shut my computer off so it often runs for weeks. And at the beginning of the year I was using space heaters still. Average for '15 was about $125/mo though I think with the new stove and less space heater usage next year will be under $100 mo. The last 6 months of '15 averaged around $90/mo but we had a fairly mild summer (only used one window a/c unit maybe 5-10 nights) and a fairly mild winter so far. I've never run a whole winter off propane, but even as secondary heat I still have spent up to $1500 in gas in prior years. Went through over $400 propane in 3 weeks during the polar vortex a couple years back. Wish I had the big stove back then! I'd hate to guess how much 100% propane heat would cost... some years maybe 3-4k+ I'd guess, this winter probably in the 1-2k range I'd guess if the rest of the winter is seasonable.

don't want to get political but. the gov't adding 13% to life necessities {electric and probably oil or gas) is worse than the free enterprise side. thankfully mass. doesn't tax power ect. no tax on wood either. that is shameful
