i think my isp is just happy to have customers. no caps. no interference whatever.
it's only 7Mbps down, but it never bogs down like the cable we started with which just died when school got out and all the kids got home and went online. (we have dsl) and they have given me two straight two year terms of 8 dollar a month discount.

when we first got here, the best they could offer was 3.5 down, so i am actually delighted to have what speed i do.

:headbang: Ash pan full. Waiting for flame to die down to empty it. High winds here tonight are stealing the heat out of the house.

We just went through that again. Knocked the stove off line, so I left it off for the night. When I got up the next morning 4am or 0400 to some of you, I made a fire in the wood stove to get some heat going. BY 7am the wind direction had shifted and I lit off the pellet stove again. I noticed this morning that the stove is a mess and needs cleaning again. It hasn't been a full five days even, running on low.

We had only one place in mind for the placement of the stove. Unfortunately the placement of the stove meant that the exhaust was facing the winter winds. We have some wild winds here also. I'm still looking for a resolution that works: period, I keep improving on the end cap and hoping that it will be the last revision. Still looking for input on a high wind cap!

when it's windy here, as it was yesterday, i think again how lucky we were that no options existed for placing the stove on the other side of the house from where it is. it wasn't something i was thinking about when i started down this path.
we basically never get winds of any significance on the side where the vent is.

A wind shield located in front of the vent several feet away.

    mitosis cold.

that's what happens when you go to start the car in your flip flops and get sidetracked in chipping ice from around the steps.

The rain is back and here we sit, staring at the dismal soggy mess.

Best part is that the temps have come up a bit.

    Miazziz Cold

Yesterday I had some tractor work to do, by the time I was done everything was cold. I should have put the bibs on! I had the wood stove going also, so standing in front of it is always comforting after being out in that brutal wind.

I'm getting ready to sink three posts and put a metal shield up, even if just for the winter. I'm sure the "noise" would then come from inside the house, as it wouldn't be attractive.

All that rain pooled out in the fields and is now frozen solid. The tractor skidded across some yesterday.

Had to change the fuel pump in my son's Jeep Grand Cherokee this morning. Laying on the frozen ground wrestling a 1/2 full tank with my son was a 'bonding time'. For this 72 year old, that's enough bonding for one day. 30 degrees at the time!
