I've been reading post here for a while and decided to register and do a short intro/say hi thing. I grew up in south Fl. so firewood was not much of a concern. We had a fireplace to look at but the electric heat rarely got turned on. We moved to the mountains of NE GA in 2004 ( in december no less ). The house had gas heat, and I hated paying the gas man, so a wood stove went in the next summer. There were lot of standing dead oak on the property so we had dry firewood for years. We moved to a new (to us ) place and we are on our second season with a small outside wood boiler. I've been a wood nut since moving out of FL. I've owned chainsaw mills, swing mills, band mills and almost every stihl from a 24 super up through 066's. All but an 026 are gone now and I've made the move over to dolmar (even though there is zero dealer support within driving distance) no mills any more, but I'm planning on a new chainsaw mill in 2016. I don't have any pics to show you, but maybe I'll learn about posting pics at some point.
Welcome DonE! Sounds like you've got lots of good experience, you'll be an asset here. Glad to have you join the family!
Welcome to the forum Don. Wow! You have been a wood nut so you fit in very nicely here. I've heard good things about the Dolmar saws but haven't had the opportunity to use one yet. Mills I've had a little experience. Almost bought a mill not that many years ago and would have if not for some physical problems. I think one could really enjoy those new mills. Posting pictures is very easy to do on this forum. At the bottom of the window you'll see 3 possible links: "Post Reply, Upload a File and More Options." That middle one is the biggie; upload a file. It will take you to your picture folder then you choose what you want to post. When it has uploaded, then you can choose "Create a Thumbnail" and then "Post Reply." It is as easy as that. If you need more help, simply ask as many here can help and are willing. Glad to have you aboard.
Hello there DonE and man did you get here in the nick of time! Great backstory and once you get situated, you'll have no trouble posting pics! We love pics almost as much as heating with wood- and not paying the gas man, or the oil man, or the power company......
Welcome aboard Don! All that equipment, huh? Just think how much more you would have bought if you had moved farther north!
