Are Your Stoves Keeping Up?

As soon as I figure out how to pack it full and empty out in 6 hours I'll test my theory. Right now I'm loading every 12 hours so we may never find out.

Better than Pete, his stove ran out today & no one was home. Cold house now.
Bet he's working to get it warmed up, supposed to get cold there tonight.

 

Keeping up just fine. -17*F and wind chill is -42*. Just made a 12 hour run on locust at -10* to -15* and the house was at 70* at reload with STT at 350*. It's a beautiful thing. Doing a short run on 3 maple splits and going to reload before bed at 10pm. Planning on getting 9-10 hours tonight and waking up to a warm house with -20* outside.

 

LOL! I'm the keeper of the fire. I prefer it that way.

 

Same here. I tryed to tell the wife how to run this new cat stove as she could keep the other one going half decent but she was looking at me like I was speaking spanish. As long as she stays hot for me I'll worry about the house.

 

Kinda funny how my house stays warmer in -15 with a West wind verses 15 with an East wind. My house is more exposed and has many windows facing the lake to the east so that wind can really rob some heat. I was playing around with my IR gun on the walls and there's a big difference in temps on the windward side.

 

I've had some oak parked close to the stove since yesterday. How much moisture does the hot stove draw out in a 24 hour period? Is it negligible?

 

For me its the south winds, tonight after midnight it switches to the south and we warm up to 17 tomorrow, time to get naked.

 

So far so good here. Dropped down to 68 upstairs and 74 downstairs this morning at -6 outside. Down to -11 here now and it's cranking, 67 upstairs and 87 downstairs

These were taken about 1hour into the burn and the stove was at 550F SST and 600F flue temps. It evaporated quickly after hitting the air so pretty sure it wasn't smoke

 

How big is that stove? That's a big house

 

That's my Wednesday high. Looking forward to it.

 

The Isle Royale is a 3.0 CuFt stove heating 2500 sqft + 1000 sqft of basement. I'm still amazed it can keep up in these conditions!!

 

We like picture as you know but please just fuget about it.

 

Rough calculations based on an 80F temp differential show that it shouldn't be able too. I wonder if the covered porch helps with some heat retention? The porch goes all the way around the house.

Good looking place Tri, love the wrap around porch. Good place for some old fashion rockers, in the summer that is. Maybe a tall glass of lemonade. Must be delusional talking about summer and lemonade at -6

 

Thanks LP! Yea we have been looking to pick up some of those old rockers. Can't wait to enjoy a cold one out there this summer! Maybe the heat from our stoves cranking is getting to us

 

Just had to look to see where Waynesville was. I'd like to journey down that way sometime in 2014 to make a trip to the Creation Museum below Cinnci. I was down there when the opened but a lot has changed. Not meaning to hijack the thread.
