I dont hear valves on my 1980 k10 but it has had motor swaps and I dont know what. I'm like the 4th owner and had it the last decade.

I think I'm actually the fifth owner. But the 2nd and the 4th are the same. He bought it from the original owner when he was 16. He then sold it later. Sold it to a younger kid. Then when he was selling it he saw it and bought it back. Kept it a few years I guess then had it up for sale where I was passing through in an area I never go though. I saw it and bought it like a week or two later. Had it since. He was a mechanic and I bought it out in front of the shop he owned.

Valve train is the cam and all valves working together. As the lifters age they lose pressure and get noisy as they expand and collide with the tappets. I know, gear head talk.

I just asked WWW to tranlsate for me   He said 2 rebuilds, last engine new, about 12K on new engine so all is still tight (we retired the truck from 150 mi per day in 2008), It turned into the dog mobile with 4 dogs, and the hunting truck, no worries if he drives by branches that drag along the sides. Sorry the for :Yar: the body however.............feels fine in the winter but wow I would swear something is going to fall off in hot summer weathero_O

Ok, nice little mechanics lesson. Now back to the splitter. It's mine and for a great price I think. Regularly 999, it was marked down to 899 because it has been sitting for a while. I asked manager if there was anything more she could do and without even batting a eye she said 799. Applied for a lowes charge for an extra 10% off and I walked out with it for 783. Was thinking of going to grab my father in law for another 10% with his military but wasnt sure if they would also honor that with the other discounts. All in all not bad, now time to put it to work. Thanks guys, I've always thought about haggling at places like that but just figured the price was the price. image.jpg

Congrats. My neighbor has the same splitter, also from Lowes. He got it on sale during the summer for $999 when the regular price was $1,099. First time he used it it leaked some hydraulic fluid but tightening the worm clamps on the hoses solved that. No problems since and it deals with everything he throws at it. Since yours was store assembled, follow the manual and check all the fittings that Lowes put together. Then check the fluid levels and you are good to go.

    I've got the 27 ton.

I highly suggest the work table. I'm 6 foot 6 so I'm going to be buying the extra large one because I think I can benefit from it with my reach. I'm not sure the price but if you want to buy the standard one from me I'll give you a good deal. Pm me if interested.

Yes I do! Didn't put it to work tonight, just went through it and checked the fluids and ran one round through it. Suppose to rain all day tomorrow and then 5 days of snow.

I do kinda feel like I should be locked up. I wasn't seriously in the market, just always looking and thought maybe in the spring but I just couldn't pass it up.

Thanks. I will send you a pm. Already on the DHT website looking at them.

You just bought a new splitter that you can use for years, and if properly maintained and kept out of the elements, I suspect you can sell it for the same or close to what you paid from it... How cool is that? :smoke:
