Hi folks, I'm new at FHC ... I've been lurking lately at the "other" forum but all the Harman pellet boiler owners seem to have faded into the woodwork. Maybe by some miracle they've all become trouble-free! (The boilers, not the owners.) Mine has been doing OK since the second warped burnpot was replaced.

On the pellet front, I was at my local Farm & Fleet store the other day and noticed that their pellet prices have recently dropped 20% from the start of the season. Not a "sale price," either. So maybe the market is making a move.

Welcome Graybeard!! Many of the members on that "other" forum have migrated here in the last couple of years. Also, there a bunch of pellet burners on here that are in your area. Smokeshow & Krooser are a couple I know offhand.

Probably should do a search of "PB105" and see what pops up.

I see, Smoke Show's in Pittsville and Krooser's in Waupaca. I'm 100-some miles south of them, but I know both areas pretty well. There are some great little craft brewers up there, Central Waters and O'So, not to mention the old Stevens Point brewery ... remember the slogan: "When you're out of Point, you're out of town."

The boiler has been pretty good to me, Ivanhoe, although Harman apparently decided they were more trouble than they were worth and stopped making them. I would have gone for a techier brand like the Kedel or Windhager, but I wanted to have the seller accessible rather than hundreds of miles away. Harman has a big dealer presence in the area (EarthSense). Also, the ability to direct-vent the Harman still works best for my application.

Anyway, thanks for the warm welcome everybody!

I don't think they were more trouble , I just don't think they sold well , you know what you are prolly right more trouble than they worth , not a big market for them no profit . Not that they were a bad stove with lots of problems . If doesn't make any sense I'll blame this post on Beer:drunk:

    Hi Graybeard!

Have been lurking here for a while as well. Have you been using your PB105 this year? I haven't even fired mine up yet with the warm weather and the price of LP being where it is. I have been burning the Castile though. Have gone through around 1 ton so far.

Harman had quite a few problems with their burnpot design on the PB105. I had replaced mine around 6 or 7 times already. The last one with the new design (holes in the side) seems to be holding up okay.

I see Smoke Show is up to his usual trouble and Krooser is hanging around as well.

Helloooo, FF. Yep, I've been running the pellet boiler -- wife thinks the pellet heat "feels warmer." Plus, the 105 is a lot quieter than my old 160K-BTU oil dragon. It's more efficient too. I think Harman did indeed find the answer with their latest (and last) burnpot design for this model. Good thing ... my Harman guy says the new pot costs something like $700 out of warranty! At that price I think I'd have a local welder make any necessary repair.

I've gone through about half a tank of oil and maybe 1-1/2 tons of pellets so far this season -- I think I'll switch over to dino juice a little more so I can fill the tank up once more this winter.

Good luck on finding that on a map. If a person tries to GPS our house, it takes you to a house about 2 miles away. One way to keep salespeople away.:p
