    Kalua pig.
    Boston Butt
    1 tablespoon Hawaiian sea salt
    1 tablespoon liquid smoke
Smear the butt with the liquid smoke pat in the sea salt.
Cook it, pull it, eat it!
For more flavor take some of the juices and put them in a bowl in the fridge or freezer until the fat gells on top. Scrape it off and discard. Spoon remaing juice back onto pork.

I just have one of the older round ceramic type ones but I use it often to make chili, BBQ pulled pork, and "stew" types of dishes. Just search online for slow cooker recipes and you will find more than you can imagine. I'll generally cook on high initially for about 1/2 hour or so just to get mine heated up quickly, then on low for the remainder of the cook, sometimes finishing it off back on high for the last hour or so. I really don't use formal recipes, just throw stuff in that I like and let it cook!

I did just save this link off food.com the other day but have not tried anything from here yet.

Did some Root Beer Ribs in the slow cooker the other day and the whole family wished I had made more. Simple, rack of ribs, a little salt and pepper and a can of root beer. A quick 20 minute finish out of the root beer and in the oven with BBQ sauce had them falling off the bone:drool:

The slow cooker at our house gets a workout. We have the Ceramic/Pottery Pot type. Also, have a small one from the MIL that she had hidden away in the cabinet. When we moved her a couple of years ago we inherited. Both work well for different things.
Last night had split pea soup with the New Years ham bone. It was fantastic, the flavor that a slow cooker brings out is what I like the best.
Pallet Pete, the recipes look great. Thanks for posting those. I am going to try the Breakfast Casserole. I get up earlier on Sunday's and when we get back from church, breakfast ready to go, nice.
XXL, I too have always done my ribs in the slow cooker and then finished them off on the grill or in the oven. But, using root beer in the slow cooker with the ribs, you are on to something there. The sweet of the root beer is the ticket.
Enjoy folks and have a great day.

I forget how handy phones are for taking pictures and posting like Pallet Pete did. That looks like an awesome cookbook for slow cookers.

Dear husband mostly uses it for stew and BBQ roasts/pork and Chili (meat cooked first). Even then without a lot of use, we still appreciate it. Plus its awesome to walk through the house all day and smell the food cooking:)

I have a committee meeting at a friends house on Wednesday evening that we'll be doing a little potluck. I'm going to be doing some crockpot pierogies.

Also, I just took a pork shoulder from the freezer and will be doing a crockpot pulled pork later this week.

We have a line of spices and such here in Canada called Club House and they also have a slow cooker series of additives. I've tried a few and they are pretty easy and always turn out well. I have done the pulled pork one in the past but I'm going to try something different this time. One of my favorites is the Italian Herb Chicken:beerbbq:

You have to love the slow cookers this time of year. Just set and forget

Crock pot Lasagna is fantastic. Only needs to cook on low for 4 hours. Usually I put in a layer of eggplant and ground meat. Put in very little sauce or it will be runny.

We made barbacoa style tacos in the crockpot. They were amazing, put it on corn tortillas with some rice, beans, salsa, cilantro, and onions. The first pic is the ones we made, used venison instead of beef. We're actually making them again today for a party. This is the Chipotle restaurant version of barbacoa. We didn't follow the recipe exactly but fairly close.

These recipes sound great. If your in a rush put ham and Coke in the crock pot. The ham absorbs the sugars from the Coke. Nice and moist, quick and easy.
