Looks like Okanagan is replacing the BHH with a new softwood pellet and calling it Okanagan Gold. Here's a quote from a post Mr. Warm made on face book. Hoping to get some soon!
I think he puts that because the dealers actually set the price for their regions. My guess is slightly less than the Okies platinum's. Should be about the same as the BHH if they are available in your area. As these pellets are replacing the BHH. I found a dealer that was selling BHH for the same $$ as Okies. So YMMV.
So far all I know is pine and I am assuming SPF. I just sent a message to him to get a lil more info. Edit: They are a pine pellet. I asked for some test data to post as well.
Just curious....since we're on a new forum, does he still have to be called "Mr. Warm"? Most of the members who came over here from the "other place" all know who he is.
Sorry Pete, Force of habit! No go on the test data. He(Doug) said he doesn't want to give any ammo to his competition. If I find some, I'll try to do a review if time permits.
I guess I'm the only one on this site who doesn't know why he's called Mr. Warm. I've always wondered.
We couldn't say his name once he was band, So we nick named him Mr Warm. Warm because he sold bags of heat which kept us warm. Wonder why he didn't join us here? I asked him and sent several links to interesting threads. I even linked him to this thread! No need for me to be the middle man anymore?
Was it something BTU? Or BTU? He isn't Banned here? I w For one would like to see him. He needs to put pressure on the dealers in my area. I want a good pellet for weather like we are having. I like my Somersets at $175-$220 a ton, bit I would gladly pay a premium for a "Great" product. Just my 2 pennies. I know at least one other member (who is looking right now for a quality pellet for his Harman) that would pay a good price for a good pellet.
He got banned on hearth, Not here. I don't think he has even joined here. I'd like to see him here too. Even if it was just to offer sales assistence(where to find his goods in your area). Plus He had good leads on which pellet was what in some of the rebagged goods. I got a lot of good tips from him(still do!). Here his work email addy. I also have his personal if you need it. I can PM that as I'm sure he doesn't want that one public! [email protected]
Maybe just to try but you would have to be outside of your mind to pay $300 for Okies when you can get sets for $200
Some burners aren't as frugal as we are. Some feel buying a quality pellet(Okies just to name one) are all in that price range depending on you location(region). I here peeps in PA are paying $240/ton for Turmans. So Okies would have to be priced similar in that region to compete. And with the dealers setting the price, If they are smart, They won't over price them. Or I would at least think this would be the case. For Okies to compete in my area, They are priced right in the same bracket as other softwoods(North Country-Spruce Pointe @$310 to$319/ton) And slightly more than Hamers-Turmans-Barefoots(@$@$299 to310/ton). For the Okies Gold, I would assume(very bad) they would ask slightly less so they could compete. BHH is going @$309/ton). And if Okies ever hit the boxstore as a rebag and Are selling at current boxstore prices? Yeah, I'd go as gaga for them as sets and AWF's.
If they were 240 or so it would make some sense. Same prices here for the "good" stuff. I am pretty sure I am done with the good stuff after this season. Prices are higher this year than last and I paid 285 for the spring special. Even if I buy by the bag I will save over $50 a ton. The benefits are no longer worth it especially since I never have to go over setting 3. Ps.....if Okies were ever rebagged at box store prices I would no longer have a yard to mow.
Won't ever see them in the boxes......dealers set their own retail price and everyone pays the same price from my warehouse. I currently have several dealers that are now buying DFir by the truckload and not just a pallet here or there. They have sold very well this season and will sell even more next year (2014-2015). Don't sell our products in CO, so that must be a different kind of "Gold" and hearing it sells for a hellva lot more than $300 per ton. Glad to see you here to Smoke Show. Somebody got a question for Mr. Warm
