So after breaking in the stove and then having a good three day runner on the stove I let it cool today as I saw the center screw in the secondary baffle was protruding about a 1/4" out from the baffle.

I put on my gloves and tried to hand tighten it but it just spins and moves up and down and doesn't seem to be threaded into anything, but it's still staying put in the baffle.

    What's going on here?

How do I tighten this screw?

Can I access it from the cat area of the stove?

    Thanks

    Mike

the bolt is there to keep the baffle from warping downward. It is designed/common for the baffle to raise up in the center due to heat. Mine is at least half an inch. However, I have never tried to tighten it, so I do not know if it should be loose...

I contacted Woodstock when i first got my stove about this. That bolt is supposed to be that way to allow for expansion and contraction.

Thanks guys! Was worried a little and it kept me up last night thinking and wondering how I was going to access it
    to tighten it.

It looks and sounds like it's fixed in the position its in and won't come out at all but can't be tightened either.

You are correct. Nothing to worry about. I may be way off but I think I remember seeing a picture of the nut with a cotter pin. I can't remember why I think that. ..
