Sweet haul Will_H. Great when you find something like that! Last year a mate put me onto some gum rounds on the corner of his street. Nearly broke myself in half putting them in my wagon. Got them home and drove a fiskars x27 into them... and it just bounced right off!! Now I have a few new chopping blocks!
I'm happy for you. Ash is great wood, it seasons quickly, its generally easy to split and has good burn times. I just can't get excited about it any more because it's almost all I cut now because of the EAB. Cord after cord after cord.....
That's some nice Ash P.S..don't get too excited abt the Ravens...my Steelers gave the game to them lol ! They do that too often...the darn boogers
Thanks Eric, but Ralph and I spoke he is up visiting the in laws for Christmas and is supposed to stop by for lunch.
My bad, I took it as "Do you still LIVE in NY?" I'm a dummy..... Nice to get a visit in with a a fellow FHC'er
Eric if you ever find your way up into the capital region of NY around Albany let me know and I would love to buy you lunch or dinner as well.
Was wanting to head that way this summer, but after my wife's reaction to the May mice in our family cabin(2014) in Manorkill, she's not into the idea of a return trip I'd gladly take you up on that fine offer, Chopy
Yes it was pleasant last year as he brought his bride with him and we had a nice talk. Then of course everything turned to firewood talk and going out back to the wood piles.
We have a family gathering on New Years Day so Saturday will be the day I will bust up some of this ash . My only issue is I have no pallets to stack it. Got all my other stash on my pallets I already have....I'll figure something out.
Family gatherings are a great time to do woodpile work. #freelabor ! They can do all the work.. You can just be saying: It goes here !
Sweet stuff! Processed a lot of white ash this year and am hoping to snag a lot more once the field dries out some or freezes.. Great wood to work with and burn..
The restaurant the chopy runs has some of the best pizza in our area, So definitely take him up on his offer someday. I'm am working in NZ right now and then on to Antarctica were neither are particularly known for their food... missing NY pizza so much right now.
For those of you who don't know that Decemberist, is part of the 109th Airlift Wing who's runways border my property. He is deployed for the next two months. I haven't met him yet, talked on the phone when he returns home we will get together. Hopefully I can help him make up his missed scrounging time for serving us with some of my extra wood.
You tell him thanks for serving this great republic and keep on keepin' on ! My brother retired from the Air Force . Was a Boom Op on a KC 135 and did over 100 missions over Viet Nam . Glad he got back in one piece ! Thanks to all who served here in the 'hood also.
