Chief, all I find straight and tall is a wood lot I planted myself. Unfortunately it is not very large diameter but the ash is already starting to threaten the power lines. One day I will drive past and find they have decided to harvest and remove my wood because they think they can. Unfortunately for them I know that I planted none of the seedlings on the right-of-way so they are going to be in for a battle that they will lose.
I just had a buddy of mine sue the power company for chopping up his tree line. He got $15,00. Of course the the trees are still devistated. Can't undo that, but at least they had to pay for their stupidity. So go for it. Sue them and win. They deserve it.
I would hope so but doubtt it. I have been an inspector for 30 years and have challenged the power companies several times. Lost every time. They are just too big and untouchable.
I had a bad windstorm rip through my place and had a huge hanger that was right over the line to the transformer. In other words, their problem. I called and asked if they could send out a crew to get it out when they weren't busy as I couldn't reach it with our lift from the driveway. {need a 100 ft reach as It was wet and I didn't want to kill the yard.} They said they could turn the power off and I could get it when it dried out, just call them. I told her no thanks, I'll just let it break your line. Which it did a month later. That was a couple years ago and they have since started to maintain their lines.
We have PP&L as the power company, after the Halloween snow storm in 2011 they got Really proactive worth maintain their right of way and emission potential problems, they'd had 4 or 5 Asplundh crews full time since then in the area doing right of way work.
They came through this year and climbed my red Oaks with spikes. Still trying to heal all the spike wounds in my tree. If my red Oaks get a disease from their spikes I'm going to kill some body
Kevin, do you have extra leaf springs in that pickup truck? That's a big load of wet wood. I'd be on the frame stops with that big a load.
