Is at it again. So, this last storm (first storm) was only supposed to drop a couple inches of snow on us. I was unconcerned. Now, with a good 9" of snow on the ground, the tractor plow not on, mowing deck still on the tractor, and chains not on the tractor, I'm in a quandary. In the meantime, I need to clean the walkway, and near the porch, and the drive up at the mail box. Started doing that yesterday with a shovel, but didn't get it done. Not whining, just a reminder to myself to never listen to the weather forecast.....always be prepared, and pushing snow around with a shovel......sucks. And, when the tractor is set up properly for the task at hand, life is gooder. I should have had this setup done back in October. Thanks for playin' along. Oh, and it's not really Murphy's fault.....it's all on me.
Yup, mine gets prepared come He$$ or high water in November. Learned a long time ago about procrastination. No different then snow tires and the first snow storm. Can't really blame this on Murphy.............
Was Mark Watkins on vacation this week? (He's the meterologist for one of the northern MI TV stations for those not from that area). I got my snow thrower ready back in November when we were supposed to have a big snow that never happened. I used it the other day for the first time to deal with the slop in front of the garage door. I quickly remembers why I bought new belts for it this spring. I should put those on today.
Everyone knows that when you put the plow on early, it never snows. I put mine on the grizzly late October figuring big snows again. Only a couple flakes so far.
Big blower went down due to ethnol gas problem , Little one was shorting out from 30 to 50 mpr winds driving snow sleet and rain, one of the truck's tranny was overheating although drive around the block a couple times and it would return to normal- radiator and tranny cooler not iced up that I could see. Other truck seals in lift ram leaking, but we made it through all 16 hours of fighting Mother Natures Bucket list that she dumped on us Monday into Tuesday. Just finishing repairs on little blower ( toro3650) one of the best purchases I ever made got to be 10 years old now seen more weather an abuse than any machine should have to and still pounds along. Have to tear down the carb on the 2 stage blower ( first time in 20 years). Need to buy a new cylinder for the one plow- not effective to buy the seal kit- others have tried that and more trouble than its worth- not that much more for new cylinder anyway. get all that done and I will be ready for Mother Natures next hissy fit, I think. Oh, and drop the pan on the tranny and replace filter and change fluid. Might be all it needs. Tranny fluid isn't burned color wise or scent wise. Weather report for this storm said about an 1.5" fall to be expected snow wise - close to ten is what it ended at. Wet cement style. Anything that dosent get moved today is going to be there for the duration as temps are sliding to the 9 deg mark this evening.
I might make it back to the shed today, if I get done with everything else before dark. We had an unexpected turn of events yesterday, that turned a 2 hour errand into an almost 9 hour ordeal. Came home in the dark, and the house was down to 64. Took a couple minutes to warm the house. Life is what happens while we're making other plans. I'll take pics of the un-ready tractor......which amongst everything else, won't start. Seems to be a theme with this thing, anytime there's work to be done.
Oh yeah, the errand was to go buy a new roof rake and hit the quilt/fabric shop for my wife. The roof rake is for me. I'll get a pic of the roof rake and roof too, although I'm not quite done raking yet.
Yeah, maybe I'll remember to get this stuff done before the chit hits the fan. Maybe I'll put the plow on in August.
put the blades on both tractors a couple of weeks ago, stocked up a ton of salt, has not even hit freezing here yet.
