I wasn't sure where I wanted to put this so it goes in everything else. If it should be elsewhere one of the friendly staff can move it. I have a pair of chaps I picked up at an estate sale 6-7 years ago. I have never used them but they aren't new. You can tell that someone used them in the past but they are by no means worn out and have never been hit with a chain. I would like someone here, that will use them, to have them because I know that I never will. On the inside tag it says size 38. Folks pop in and out at all different times of the day so I've been trying to figure out a way to do this to give everyone that may be interested a chance. Since no one here knows me personally, this is what I came up with. In the picture below are ticket stubs from some of the Grateful Dead shows I saw when I was touring. They are NOT all there. Be the first person to tell me how many stubs I have and the chaps are yours. If there are no correct answers by tomorrow morning around this time, I'll lower the top end to narrow the field. If no one hits it by Friday morning it will be the closest one that didn't go over. HINT: It's under 100. If the winner is within 2 hours of Harrisburg, Pa, I'll meet you halfway and give them to you. Outside of that circle and I'll ship them; to the lower 48. Good Luck.
Nice gesture! I don't need them, so no guess from me! May I make a suggestion that the thread title be changed to "Free Chaps" so it draws more attention?
I think the "38" is the LENGTH, not the waist size. I am a "32" length (yeah, yeah I'm short) but my chaps go above my logger boots. I could use the "38" and I bet a few others could as well. For you fat guys, the straps are very adjustable. # of dead shows.... let's see you are a Deadhead who was alive during their prime, 6 shows a summer for a good decade plus.... I'm going to go with lucky number 73. Nice jesture UncleJoe
Hahaha...Guess I don't know what I'm talking about as usual!! If my guess wins, I will pay the shipping to Cnice_37!!
I will guess 57. Thats crazy to me that people followed them around and event to that many shows. To see anything that many tines seems crazy to me! Did you have a job then? I guess weekend trips when they were near you?
The dead rarely if ever played the same show twice. One of the true "see what happens when we play this" bands
34? I don't need the chaps I just wanted to see if I was right! Good for you though for paying it forward! Gary Or 33!
Nope. A little to obvious there. But go ahead and take a stab at how many jars of cranberry sauce are hiding behind the "hips" if you like. angelo c explains it quite well. Really, you never did know what was coming on any given night. For multiple night stays in one city, you would never hear the same song twice. Yes. I did have a job; with a boss that was incredibly accommodating. There were 3 East Coast tours every year; Spring, Summer and Fall. I would leave in late March and work my way from South to North. As I was coming through Pa. I would call him and he would schedule extra work for whatever days I was in town. When Spring tour ended in late April I would go back to work full time. Summer tour started in June and went through early/mid July. Fall tour was late September into October. I was basically taking 3 months a year of unpaid vacation. Did that from '83 through the summer '89. First daughter was born in the summer of '89 and that brought an end to the regular touring days. But I did take her to a few outside shows in '90 and '91.
