ranger bob , the 5 kw generator and double ended male to outside outlet is what I do when we loose power but so everyone knows you HAVE to throw your disconnect to the grid, mine is next to panel box. Power company stops by and has fits... They want you to hire an electrician to install whole house generator that has automatic disconnect from grid. Here that costs an additional 3000. If you have that you are marked on their system if not they come knock on your door and check to see if your disconnected.

I explain I have disconnected they generally want to check which I don't mind for their safety. When they tell me I am breaking rules and want me to talk to their supervisor, which generally happens. I try to nicely remind them that I am protecting my house and family. But some of the younger guys are if one of our guys gets zapped we can charge you with assault or manslaughter! I explain usually less nicely their job is to provide me with power if they can't I will. moreover they can charge me with whatever they want I only need 1 guy or girl on jury that understands disconnects

 

You are in great shape. Wood heat will offer enjoyment and back-up. If your water is secure you'll be self sufficient if need be.

 

Absolutely essential ... that the home be isolated from the grid when running a generator into the home system. I am surprised that there is never seems to be any mention made around here as so many have generators and we have all sorts of outages mainly due to the hilly terrain and old trees around the lines.

 

I have sold my Napoleon 1402 and I am going to call Woodstock today and talk with them about the ideal or the progressive stoves. My wife and I are 10 hours away from them but we want to go to the factory.

 

Nice trip. Beautiful area.. do you ski or ride. Factory is on way to several nice ones.. if you enjoy NH liquor stores are cheap and they place then in interstate rest area. What example that says about drinking and driving IDK.

 

Know any good bed and breakfast places to stay over there, my wife and I have not been on vacation for over a year. We need some rr. What would you ride over in NH?

 

If I were you I would consider some way to purchase/haul one home with you. You might as well save the shipping freight. I know you want to see one first, but that is a long drive.
