Mike, next time I get the chance I will ask if I can bring a friend. I did get the ok for 2 family member's, one of which has already cut previously on their orchards. Right now it is scary wet up there and we're getting more rain. I plan to go back again this weekend so I'll watch the weather and be in touch. Your weekends free?
We cut with the understanding that it's @ your own risk. They assume no liability, yadda yadda. Typical of all the owners I've cut for. Knouse foods used to sell permits for $1 and you signed a waiver upon purchase. I ended up with 16 cords on that deal all for one buck!
Near Biglerville, yes. Very close to Rice Fruit Co in Gardners. There aren't many of these 50+ year olds left. We plan to get a load in the morning tomorrow, then probably 2 on sat & sun each. I have till the end of jan to cut, then it gets dozed into a pile and burnt. Wish I had a larger trailer. mike bayerl I hope to ask if you can come when I see my contact this weekend.
Yep, Gardners.. Pulled a real nice load from there.. There was a tri-axle pulling loads out that day so he loaded up my wagon.. I posted the pictures when I snagged the load but that was a while ago.. I'll see if I can dig them up..
Couldn't find the on site pictures but this was the final load. He loaded some Hackberry and cherry that they had cut above the orchard too..
Quick load this morning before the game. Drove around the orchard today now that it's all pushed over. We came up with a guestimate of about 1250+ trees!!! After we cut them up, will be able to drive down the rows, backing the truck right up to the wood.
I was gonna comment on not seeing much apple there. That won't happen often. Most of these guys have friends and family that they divvy up the rows of orchard wood to.
The Wood Wolverine youre killing me with these great pictures. I had no idea this was done. Interesting. FYI keep the pics coming if you have em!
I wish there was an easy way to get you some for him. I've actually cut a few pieces right where the base stems out into multiple branches in hopes they would make some very unique bowls, and I also cut out an 8-10"long x 4-5" burl for my dad. Can't wait to see what they look like finished.
