It finally looks like winter is on it's way. It's still green grass here but last night there was a bit of ice forming on the lake. Tonight it is going down to single digits and I expect there will be a thin, smooth skiff of ice over most or all of the lake. Snow is also in the forecast over the next few days. The temps are all below freezing and a few nights in the single digits. It's about a month late. It looks like El Nino's grip is loosening a bit! I'm all over that as the snowmobiles and ice fishing gear is ready to go and the Ion auger is charged up. Even the turkey dinner is late this year as we just got our power back on after the wind storm damage of Wednesday night! I just lifted big bird into the oven. Feast tonight!
Yup Bob, looks like the same drill coming here too. Everybody around here was starting to complain about the weather, time for a change................LOL. Enjoy the bird. I ended up with a white Christmas here. Shoveled twice today and will have to again in the morning. Sure am grateful that there has been no real below zero temps so far this season, also.
Yep, the unseasonably warm days here are coming to an end. All the weather prediction places call for freezing rain starting tomorrow afternoon. No more throttling back the wood stove - time to unleash the beast within it and let it do what it was made to do! Heaps of white ash, white oak and old locust will help make it happen.
Cold settling in tonight - snow through Michigan and east of us. Lake is still open water but expect that will soon change. Further south - freezing rain. Long range looking like winter is here.
Nasty old storm making its way north out of Texas and looks like unpleasant day or two coming our way.
We are going to get some snow but are on the northern edge of the system so may end up as a few inches only ... hope, hope, hope.
Our forecast is: Accumulations... snow accumulation of 6 to 12 inches... along with around a trace of ice. I won't be going out in that mess until it is over and cleaned up.
Raining ice crystals here this morning then just rain and drizzle the rest of the day. 2 more days of gun season today and tomorrow, made it out for 2 hrs the end of the day in the drizzle. Didn't see anything but someones big red cat.
20 to 35 cm.(8-14") predicted for here currently about 4 hours SW of us but headed this way. Oh well, we're ready for it.
