My shepherd husky mix got into the closet and ate all the Easter candy I had for my son.... I was not happy as I was broke ...Somehow I managed to come up with some dollars to replace said goodies, phew....Dog was not reprimanded cause she wouldn't have had a clue as to what we were talking about hours later, she was such a chow hound. She had no ill effects....

Back in the early 80's we had a Dobey that ate a whole 2 lb package of Oreo double-stuff's while I was at the neighbor's. That was before I knew chocolate was bad for dogs so I didn't think much about it (besides being upset with myself for not putting them away - and for not even getting one of the cookies). Dog was happier than heck and didn't have any issues. Of course there probably isn't a huge amount of chocolate in double stuffs, but 2 pounds of them should add up to a decent amount.

I think the bar size that the dog ate was a 1lb.

Some people freak out when you give a dog a piece of chocolate...they should probably react the same way when you offer their children chocolate, no?

Same dog ate and entire 2 pounds of frozen (as in just taken out of the freezer to thaw) ground beef. Thing was, she couldn't avoid also eating a lot of the foil it was wrapped in. The yard was shiny with "tinsel" for a week :D. She had a cast iron stomach with never any ill-effects from anything she got into. I finally learned that the only place she couldn't get to was the top of the fridge.

I've got to beg Oakley to get in the car, he does not like it at all, so much so that when he finally does decide its ok, he is so upset about getting in the car he won't take his treat for doing so. I kinda feel bad about it, but when we get where we are going, usually for a hike, it's all good.

I have to beg Diesel to get out of the car. He would stay there day and night. I quite often just open the door on the truck and let them hang there while I'm outside just to keep them happy

Funny thing is the reluctance to get in the car is only when it's obvious that we are going somewhere. Like you, if I'm just just around the house and the car is open he will climb in no problem.

Maple is yet to get into the truck herself. (F250-quite a jump in, car no problem.) But she jumps out ok.

    Great pic schlot :)

Open a car or truck door and ours are in like a shot. Usually means they are going somewhere great. Years ago we even had a dog that would ride in the trunk of the car because it meant she was going hiking somewhere. No trouble getting her into the baggage area of our small plane either. She just wanted to come.

Bentley loves cars and trucks! He once got in the neighbors car and smashed the groceries they were unloading. They called him over, and I let him go. He jumped right thru the car lmao! They love him to death, but that was the last time they left their doors open.

We once had a little black chihuahua mix. 7 lbs. She was a rescue dog. She loved to ride and loved the lights at night. When we drove through a city, she would just up and look out the window until the skyline was dark again. She lived to be 17. What a little hellion she could be! Had to keep her on a leach if we left home because she had to "explore".

Here's some good news. Smokey has come back to his old self. He's got his appetite back (he was not eating for about a week) and much of his energy back. He must have had some sort of bug. It really scared my wife and she was thinking he only had a few weeks left in him. Nope, he's back to his curmudgeonly self.
