Had a pb n J Sammy I made for lunch today....literally just finish making it and doorbell rings. Bentley had his first counter surfing experience today. He also got a hillbilly tracheitomy via my hand. Extraction successful. Well Seasoned
The leave it command made him pause enough for me to get the Sammy outta his mouth. Grape jelly. Grapes are bad news as I'm sure you know. Anyway...just showing you that the leave it command is vital and works.

He's now pooped from chasing me pushing 10 cube wheelbarrows all over.

Glad you got it in time. Still a work in progress here, everyday reminders to leave it. She tests, and gets the command along with a zap. Some days she is just in a weird mood, and gets more testy, other days, no problem.

Fwiw, it's the skin of the grapes that is bad for dogs. Jelly isn't made from the skins of grapes.

I've fed my Brittany pb+j sammiches while pheasant hunting because she would only eat my leftovers, when I would take a break.

I got to planning on bringing an extra sandwich and make her think I was giving her my food. Silly dog Belle was. RIP.

Here's Smokey. We adopted him about 5 yrs ago from a high-kill shelter. He bit me a couple of times and my wife once, totaling 3 trips to the E.R. for stitches and one week of home I.V. antibiotics from infection. I was ready to euthanize him then and there, but my wife asked for "just one more chance." I couldn't say no, so we worked with a trainer and I learned avoid conflicts. Over the years, we have become best of friends. He is the first to greet me at the door, loves me unconditionally and would go to his grave defending me... In short, he's an angel! He's over 15 yrs. old now and slowing down a lot. However, he's happy, pain-free and relatively healthy.

I put one in my front yard. Real one.
I don't let the dogs down by the road, but you should have seen the last car that hit it.
broke a motor mount, tore the back bumper off and blew the taillights out.

Yes, there are some things that humans can eat, that dogs should not eat. However, there is definitely a dose effect, i.e., almost nothing will hurt a dog in small doses vs. a few things will hurt them in excess. For example, we all know that chocolate is bad for dogs. But, a single Hershey's kiss won't kill any dog, but, if a dog gets into a whole bag of chocolates, then, there may be a problem. Same with grapes. A bite or two of a PB&J won't hurt any dog, but a box of raisins or a jar of Smucker's may kill a dog.

Good point. When I have steak with onions and mushrooms, I just brush off the onions when I give my furry friends their serving. They often end up with half my meat serving which is better because I need to have smaller portions anyway. My cats have no interest in people food.
I'll give the dog most anything I was willing to eat. Anything I would have tossed out, goes out. Never had a dog get sick from our people food unless they dug something out from the trash. Usually that means more stooling.

So true Mike! My son's dog got onto a huge chocolate bar and started on bar number two when he was discovered. His girlfriend (her dog) called some kind of hotline and they told her what to do...keep dog quiet, blah, blah. The dog just laid around wondering when he could finish bar number two!

Much of the dog's reaction will depend on their size, overall physical condition and the amount of body fat they have. The toxins are stored in the fat and dealt with a little at a time by the liver. A very small, skinny, generally unhealthy dog could have a lethal reaction to a very small amount.
