Picked up a small load of Hawthorne today off C/L. That is pretty good for my location where we mainly have an abundance of softwood pics dont want to load today
That's a big hawthorn! Don't often see them that size. Yes, the guide is right, makes good burning. Enjoy!
we gots some big wood out west It did not look like that much when I pulled the truck up to it, but it made for a pretty good load and i could definitely feel the weight back there while driving probably at least 3 or 4 years out before I burn it as I am so far ahead. It was just o easy to pass up and pretty close to home.
You'll be glad you picked it up when you get round to burning it. To be 3/4 ahead is awesome, all that hard work paying off. Do you find yourself recalling where / when you picked up the wood when you're handling it before burning that far down the line?
yeah, when I first seen it I thought it was red Alder, but as soon as i picked up round and felt the weight i knew it was something else. Homeowner assured me it is Hawthorne ( "one of his favorite trees") and produced berry's, had some rot at the base and blew over in the recent wind storms we had here
