Charter is my service provider. The terms and conditions agreement keeps popping up when I want to view the next thread or alert or even when I am using google word search. This happens about every third search. How do I stop this re-direct from charter?
Have you agreed to it? That's what they want you to do. If you have, try it in another browser. Then try turning it off and on again. After that, call them.
Grizz has it right. Once I reach frustration overload - new provider. Same with the Banks. Have fun no matter! LOL
I have not agreed to it. It bothers me since it has my name/address listed on the page and at this point I have no control over the computer. Somehow, charter just re-directs the computer to their terms and conditions page. I will try another browser, but first, I will clean and re-start the computer.
Until you agree it will not go away. Why should it bother you that the company you have service through knows you name and address? You are logged in, they know who you are. IPs can direct you wherever they like, they control the computers that connect you to the Internet. If you don't agree to the new terms they may eventually have to discontinue your service.
The part I don't agree to is the fact that my name and adress is posted against my wishes. I don't know much about computers (ignorant at any rate). When I want the computer to do something and someone else controls it, it is at that point I become annoyed. All I want to know at this point is how to get rid of it, not how to conform to it. I have researched it a little bit and it seems this has been happening since 08 according to the date of some posts by others. The remedy they reccomend, I can't make happen. BTW, I tried cleaning, re-starting, and using another browser to no luck. Is this even legal...to re-direct someones computer against their knowledge/wishes?
They aren't posting your information, they are sending it to you. It's like when you receive a letter and it has your name and address on it. It's addressed to you so it goes into your mailbox where you are the only one that sees it. I've read up on this, you have three months to agree. Once three months passes you will not be able to access the internet until you agree. If you want to get rid of it either agree or get a new provider. Yes, it is legal for your ISP to send things like this and it is probably in the terms of service agreement you agreed to when you signed up for your service.

About 10 or so years ago, there was a commercial where it showed a board meeting. At one point, everyone pulled out there computers, tablets, etc. to start taking notes or something and one guy pulls out a pen and paper. Everyone else started laughing and I remember one women in the commercial pick up a pen and (trying very macho-ly) saying "Me have pen!" Kids were laughing and saying it was me.
