Think I'm gonna give them a try. What size for splits? 8" or the 12" (max open distance) Probably go 12" save on back & on gloves from wet & wearing out Amazon
I hear they are pretty great, got a pair on my coffee table that I haven't gotten to try out yet. I have the 12", but it plan to use them to drag logs out of the bush.

Just saw the timber tuff ones on tractor supply TSC's website. Look identical to the Husqvarnas. Got a TSC near you? Wonder if they are in stock.
Yea $45 for ones that have Husqvarna on them. $20 with no name on them Will start looking local. ordering says free but usually don't include Alaska.
For those of you that have log tongs and a pulp hook -- which do you prefer for use with a log splitter?
I vastly prefer pulp hooks when splitting. You can twist, place and pull splits apart pretty easily with one. I do have the smaller set of tongs, the bigger ones might be different. A hookaroon has its place in there also, especially with the big rounds. Pulp hooks also are subtly different with and without a barb on it. I discovered that when the tip snapped on one of mine and I filed it to a point without a barb. The barbed ones like to hold, good if you are dragging a piece but a pain if you just want to twist a round on the splitter.
We never considered the small size. On the real small stuff, I can pick them up with the tongs and get them high enough to grab with the other hand but that is only the really small stuff. 4-5" is fine with the larger set and you can grab a log a whole lot bigger than 12" diameter. If the logs aren't too large, then one in each hand works nice. If you are pulling out some of the small logs, these things are fantastic. Where these things really shine is that they save a lot of bending and it just seems like the wood feels lighter. If the wood has snow on it or is wet, then using the tongs you don't get your gloves and hands wet. Now consider what happens if you are cutting some pine. Rather than getting the pitch all over your hands, pick up the logs with the tongs! Sweet!
Do you see any advantage over the Husqy, Stihl or Timber tough ones. Other than bronze , silver & gold pricing & color
Can't see any but would have to have them in my hands. I'm betting there is a big difference in them but that will not show is a picture. I didn't know Stihl even had them. I know Amazon had an off-brand a year or two ago but not sure what they have now.
Don't know about the others, but I've had the Husky 12" timber tongs for about 3 years now and love them.
I use ice tongs to handle logs and splits. The orange pair is my go to tool. I added extensions and a light spring between the jaws. Makes it easy to pick up splits from the ground without bending over.
