This is two loads of red oak that I got last week from the golf course right across the road from my work. Found an ad on craigslist for $20 truck loads. There is about 165cuft right there and there's still more wood to get. I'm thinking a load a day. It only takes about an hour to load my trailer so I end up doing it on my lunch. It's already cut to length and dumped by the gate for me to load. Easy pickens!
Get all of it you can! Looks like the perfect size to process very easily! And at $20 bucks a load thats darn close to free if you ask me!
Yeah I can't complain about that. It's very convenient to get. Don't even have to run the saw. Back right up to their pile. Load up and good to go. I'm a mechanic by trade and this is our slow season so I'll run over whenever Im outta work for the day. Did I say it's convenient???
Here's an update. 4 loads total. Ended up getting all they had for now. They said they're cutting more after the first of the year. Hopefully I'll be able to get more.
Well I haven't split any yet but finally got to pay the guy for it. $40 for everything I got which I figure it's over two cord. I told him I'll take everything he's got until I say other.
$40 for all that? Sweet score!!! Let it go a couple of years and that oak will keep you nice and warm in winter.
