I tried one of those free online picture "enhance, blow up ,modify" and could not read it,I will call the guy!!!
Not sure of the year, but I'm pretty sure that is an old Whitfield Legend WP-1. Someone has cut off the top 3-4" of the front plate to expose the convection tubes.
It's your money and time and...........business There's better units out there, but it's your intentions which I've no clue what they are for this stove. He's asking a lot for stupidity or he knows it's worth something
No insults or bad vibes intended. Recently I picked up a 1993 Whitfield Advantage 2 T for $200 Its clean, no rust and needs minimal work to get it in top shape. $600 for the old Whit, looking that rough is a real stretch, unless you are looking to start a collection of vintage pellet stoves. Sorry that I can't get excited. If it was pristine and in working order, then maybe, but $600 is still out there.
I have to say, I have an old Whitfield Legend just like that at work. The stove has a triple stacked heat exchanger and heats like a banshee! We can literally light newspaper on fire in the air tubes. The refractory panels are made from actual aircraft nose-cone insulation. Quite a remarkable stove for its age, considering it was Jerry's first creation I believe.
